Told from several third person points of view including Marisa and Beau BEAUTIFUL BEAU MONTAGUE follows Marisa Parlance on her search for actor Beau Montague. Marisa Parlance’s obsession with Beau goes back to the years she was group owner of the Beau Montague fan group, and in the ensuing time her passion and fascination with the missing actor has turned into a preoccupation that takes all of her time. Setting her sights on internet clues and searches Marisa heads out to places unknown in search of a man who does not want to be found.
BEAUTIFUL BEAU MONTAGUE is a cute story; a quick read but I struggled with the writing style, presentation, dialogue and author diction. Telling vs showing -the dialogue tags (he said, she said, Beau said, Marcia said) are overused, reading like a ping-pong game during normal conversations. There is no conflict in the dialogue between Beau and Marcia-everyday conversations and simple exchanges are real-life but in novel writing and Beautiful Beau Montague, the conflict and tension is absent.
Marisa headed up a fan club for actor Beau Montage. When he disappeared from public life, she became somewhat obsessed with finding out where he went, what happened to him.
Her roommate talks her into traveling to a small town where someone posted online they had seen him there. Marisa knows it's a long shot, but she feels impelled to at least look.
What she discovers may change her life forever.
This is a very short story.. less than 50 pages. The characters are well defined, especially in the small amount of time allowed. I enjoyed the interaction between the roommates ... they are so credible in their caring for each other.
Once Marisa started her journey on the road the interest for me picked up. She finds Beau and they become quick friends that looks like it might turn into more. The story is well written and has a steady pace to keep the story moving along.
