This might be one of the most captivating books I have read in a long time. I literally could not put it down. I even made up a fake meeting at work so I could read for an extra hour. The characters were so lovable. Jaxon can write on my hand or borrow my books anytime. I will definitely be purchasing Jace's book as soon as I submit this review. Soooo freaking good!

"I have three rules: never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for, never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship (when this isn't disclosed to me, it is not my fault), never sleep with someone more than three times."

After tragedy struck her family, Emerson Moore has decided to live her life by these three rules in order to protect what remains of her life. She has never veered from these rules and has resulted in her being known as the campus whore. She doesn't really care what people say about her though. She is perfectly content with the way that she is leading her life. Until she comes into contact with Jaxon Riley.

Unbeknownst to Emerson, she emerges from a fraternity house early one morning minus her clothes. She is half naked when she runs into her best friend Cole and meets Jaxon for the first time. Jaxon, who is a childhood friend of Cole's, has transferred into the university in his Junior year to play football with Cole. She is instantly attracted to Jaxon, but she does not want to jump into a sexual relationship and risk her friendship with Cole and Cole's relationship with Jaxon.
Can they stop their feelings from escalating? Can sexual tension that high be ignored? No, it can never be ignored. One night they just can't fight their sexual feelings towards one another and spend the night together. She knows that she needs to stay true to her rule of "never sleep with someone more than three times." After three encounters, she knows that she must break it off with Jaxon. How will she feel seeing him date other women? Will she realize that Jaxon is in love with her and she is in the same predicament?

Emerson proceeds to lead her life according to her rules and can't see the path of self destruction that she is on. Will it be too late when she is finally able to own up to her true feelings towards Jaxon?

I absolutely LOVED this book! Once I started it, I just didn't put it down until the last page! I was thrown back to my own college years and the fun that was to be had and the feelings of falling in love for the very first time. I highly recommend this book!! - Kelly

This is one of those books that does not need a sequel, but I hope, I hope, I hope there will be one. Emerson Moore is an amazing flawed character, and Jax manages to see through her facade the first time he meets her when she is almost naked, embarrassed and trying not to let it show. We learn more about Emerson through her quirks, rules, and self effacing behavior. She is who she is and accepts who she is even though she knows she is flawed, which is why she knows she cannot handle relationships. She is also selfless in her desire not to saddle someone else with her hangups. Given that others see her as an "easy lay" or "slut," she accepts the consequences of her quest for sex without a having a relationship with any guy. Very few except for those closest to her see her vulnerability until Jax rides up on his motorcycle with his Texas drawl. This is an angsty book, but if you are reading young adult novels, then you are used to that. This is also hugely about discovering identity and knowing when love is the real deal.

The character development in this book is awesome! Emerson may be flawed, but it is impossible to not know that she is a good person with a big heart. Her often bad decisions are self destructive, and the reader often finds herself screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOO! Don't DO that!" Jax is somewhat of a typical Alpha Male; however, he has the ability to read Emerson like a book. He also has a big heart. I really like the relationships between the five friends: Cole, Quinn, Emerson, Jax, and Jace. I am hoping we get to read about Jace in the next book and know more about the Cole/Quinn and Jax/Emerson relationships. I LOVED Jax and Jace's mom and Ellie. While these parents were not present, their advice and support played a major part in the story. This book is recommended for mature young adults and older. Happy reading!

I sincerely don't understand why I still feel like this is not yet my favorite book, but it truly was amazing. The characters were so different, I've read many romantic novels and they're always about the poor and innocent girl, who has no one to rely on, and then meets this gorgeous, rich and troubled guy who for some reason can't love, they fall in love, and suddenly they're happy.

Instead, Kimberly Lauren twisted the characters and made them so different; the girl is not innocent at all, and she knows it. She likes having sex, but even though she used to sleep around, I don't think of her as a whore, because I connected with her in ways that anyone could think impossible. Oh, and although her parents died, she has some people she knows she can rely on, and she's not poor either. I mean, not that I don't like that, but come on, don't we all get tired of the same "damsel in distress" thing?

The guy, on the other hand, although not a pussy at all, is sweet and romantic as hell, more willing to love than her, he does silly things that would make anyone fall in love, yet he protects her as the typical blue prince. He's hot as hell, seems to have a lot of money, but the economic difference between them is minimal, which makes it a little more realistic, since the Cinderella's story is not something you see everyday...

Like I said, I connected with this girl so much, it feels like the author got into my mind, got from it every single thought, memory and feel that I had, mixed them all together, adapted it just a bit, and decided write a book from it. I mean, I don't go sleeping around like Em used to, but I had the same emotional issues she had.

I loved this book, and I recommend it to anyone.

I love moments in a book that will made the protagonist be slapped in the face! You know that moment when things will make you realize that you were wrong, and things seems late to be fix. I so love the all the happenings in this book transitioned and so many revelations and yet I'm just halfway reading it.

Emmy is a likable person, but sometimes I hate her for being a chicken when it comes to being in a relationship, scared to take a risk and start having her feelings out with Jaxon. I mean the guy is so perfect, he's unbelievable, just taking what Emmy can offer to him. I just get more and more frustrated with Emmy moving forward, but taking two steps backward.

It's a story that is Heartfelt, Funny, Impressive, Angsty-but beautiful, Swooning and just plain Amazing! I was really surprised that it's a debut novel!! it's that really good that I feel so emotional every pages. I love every moment of this book not to mention that I love every character from this book. It made me so devastated with the heart wreaking moments of Emmy and Jax that I literally shed a tear between those moments.

Ms Lauren did a really good job with this one! I love the transition of events, the strong personalities of every characters, the tension, and the love between Emmy and Jaxon. It was a unique story in it's own way, and I'm so glad I read this!

I'll be straight. Reading the preview and sample I was like Mehhh I've read this story one too many times. Broken girl, sexy boy, hot best friend. Even when I finished the sample I was like eh we'll see. A day later I found myself wondering about this story. I'm not going to say it's literary genius, but I will say this was organic and well developed. Nothing sounded forced and the character dynamic was literally perfect. When I read a book I want them to be in first person and borderline too perfect, so I can pretend I'm in the story.

This book was emotional, and didn't jump into any relationships, and Emerson was perfectly consistent. I hate wishy washy leads that bend to however the book needs to go.

I'm not saying this book is deep, but it offered more than all the others out there. And this is one of my favorite genres. Fantastic character development, great characters, a longer book which I like, gives you time to develop a story which was wonderfully done. All questions answered by the end.
Great book to get lost in, you won't get bored, I almost cried at times. I recommend it, don't expect a lot and you with be pleasantly surprised

I really enjoyed this story and felt invested in all of the characters. I know an author has a special gift for writing about love and loss and heartbreak when I feel physical pain while reading certain scenes. The painful journey was worth the rewarding HEA! One caveat, I really wish authors would do their research when writing about sports! College football games in every division are almost exclusively held on Saturdays, the regular season ends at the end of November, and championship games for division 2&3 are in December, not February. Of course, the division 1 championship is held in early January, but there us no way that Jaxon played for a division 1 team because the entire sequence of events would be implausible in that case. Luckily, the story and writing are both well executed so even this diehard college football fan could ignore the lack of collegiate football knowledge.

Even though this story has been told many times in some form or other, it still grabbed me from the beginning and wouldn't let go. I loved all the characters in it. From the H and h to the secondary ones. All very well developed. Even though you could kind of tell what was going to happen throughout I was still anxious with all the ups and downs and excited to keep reading to see what ultimately happens in the end. Overall I would highly recommend and can't until the second book comes out!

This is another book that won me over quickly once I got my hand on the Amazon sample. If ever there was a main character that I immediately felt a kinship with, Emerson is it. She reminds me so much of myself, it was like Kimberly Lauren had been hanging out with me during my twenties and wrote a book with me as the main character. The one difference between Emerson and myself is that Emerson grew up, let someone in and took chances and it was really nice to see.

As much as I loved Emerson, I also loved Jaxon. I enjoyed adding him to my book boyfriend list and I enjoyed watching him break through Emerson's walls. The two of them together whether just studying or doing more was sweet, hot, amazing and I really couldn't get enough. Aside from the two main characters, I loved the supporting cast as well. Jaxon's twin brother Jace (yes there are two of these hot, sweet, awesome men) and Emerson's best friend Cole and her step sister Quinn. I've read rumor that there will be another book with Jace as the main character and I can't wait to revisit this world and these characters.

This was such an amazing debut novel and I can't wait to read more by Kimberly Lauren.
