Let me start of by saying I am a complete and utter mess.
Nothing could have prepared me for the end of the Maddox brothers series.
This can't be the end.
I can't even begin to explain all the feelings I have.
I tried to hold off on reading this book but I just couldn't. I had to read Tyler and Ellie's story.
I loved Ellie! Yes, she's hard to love with her hard attitude and drinking/drug problem but she never once denied she had a problem nor did she try put that blame on someone else. In my eyes she was a REAL person that anyone with addiction could relate to. Truth be told, you don't have to have addiction to relate to her. Everyone has had some type of crisis that they have had to over come in their life and they have either trumpet over it or had plenty of failed attempts at trying to overcome it until they come to that point in their life where they are either going to keep being stuck in the same cycle or they are going to make the change for the better where they can actually do something to better their life. Who can't relate to that?
It was hard to read Ellie's journey sometimes because you were wanting to scream at her to not do something or not to even put herself in the situation that she knows what predicament its going put her in but ever one has to hit rock bottom at some point and overall she's a good person but she's just lost and needing help.
Tyler.. He's is a Maddox so he's a swoon worthy, alpha, that's hot as sin with a heart of gold and I am completely in LOVE with him. How could you not be? Tyler was somewhat trying to help Ellie, but it got the point where he was enabling her.Read more ›
Ellison Edson is one of the most real characters Jamie has written. She is on a path of self destruction taking down anyone in her path along the way. When protecting yourself means destroying someone else is not something everyone understands and gets. I see Ellie asking for help but not getting what she needs, she is beautifully broken and just keeps sinking deeper. Until she is cut off and force to take care of herself, she finds a part of herself, and she finds something she loves to do and is really good at but her drinking is getting out of hand. She keeps hurting the people that love her the most and until she seeks help she will just keep destroying.
Tyler Maddox is what Ellie needs someone to love her through the rough parts and we all know that when a Maddox boy falls in love it's forever. Their "friends with benefits" relationship is hard to watch, but beautifully written you can't help but hope for the happy ending.
Sometime hitting rock bottom is the thing you need to do before you get up and fight.
I loved this entire book, it was real, it was gritty, it was more than I expected.
So here is the deal ladies, as you read this book you discover that Tyler Maddox had to have been the brother that Travis looked up to the most! They clearly have the most similar personalities, well except Travis has a much more volatile temper. Tyler will melt your heart and panties so get ready. Tyler is a bad A hotshot that risks his life to fight wildfires to save people that don't even know it or appreciate it. And then he stumbles upon Ellie, it's okay to love her too. But boy is she messed up, who can relate? But he sticks by her even when she hits rock bottom and pushes him away more than once she does. She is the meanest of mean to him BUT he sees something in her that no one else ever has then he goes and falls in love. And low and behold we all know what happens when a Maddox boy falls in love, don't we all just want to be loved like that?
Does it all turn out alright? I'm not going to tell you if you don't know you must find out for yourself.
Ellie is full of issues and i think the most disturbed woman of the series. She's rough and completly different than what we are used to. I liked it however it can get tiring from time to time. You want to smack her and say "HEY WAKE UP!! Do you realize a Maddox loves you!?!"
I'm sad the series this series is over but knowing Jamie she has tricks up her sleeves and we'll always get a Maddox fill. I"m anxious to see Trex's story and of course the Trent/Cami book 2.
If you are a Maddox fan and enjoy a little fire give this book a try.
Until then I'll wait and re-read my Maddox boys.

I couldn't stand Ellie, Tyler's choice in girls. She didn't have any qualities that I thought a Maddox man should be attracted to. I loved Tyler and thought he deserved better. Read morePublished 2 days ago by Julie Odom
