When Layla walks into their hotel room to find him with his bitch of an ex wife and she eavesdrop on their conversation.....she had every right to be as upset as she was. At no point in the whole conversation with his ex did Jax ever say "No.....I don't love u anymore, I love my wife Layla" He proceeds to tell her that Layla is a nice person and he doesn't want to hurt her. WHAT!?!?!?! If I am Layla and I hear him say that.....all I would hear is "I really wish I could be with u again but I made a prior commitment and I have to honor it. But ask me again in a month and I might have a different answer". I understand his son was there, but the kid is 4 and playing with toys on the other side of the room. He ain't listening.
Now.....if that isn't bad enough when she leaves to get done air.....he leaves top go to his ex....who he apparently tells to back off (which is good). But then he gets mad at her for leaving and gets drunk.....bring not one but two groupies back to their hotel room.....where Layla is asleep. She gets mad and leaves again. Then he gets mad at her leaving again. KNOWING that she is in the next room. He lets her think that he is having sex with the two groupies. Very mature relationship these two have. So then.....he proceeds to OD'......and literally dies on the way to the hospital. But don't worry folks....he didn't bring the groupies back to the hotel room to have sex with them....he just wanted their drugs! What a good husband he is! It's a total misunderstanding. Again.....I could handle this part of the story if it wasn't swept under the rug. He is apologetic, obviously. But then she tells him she is pregnant and everything is all hunky dorey again?!?!? I know this is fiction.....but his behavior wE a clear sign of deeper lying emotional issues. I think their should hAve included a chapter where he goes thru some kind of therapy or at the very least marriage counseling.
Now....I know it may seem like that messed the story up for me. That is definitely not the case. I only say this because the rest of the story in my opinion, was pretty close to flawless. I loved both Layla and Jax.....and until that part.....I think they handled their relationship with maturity (even if they got drunk and married in Vegas). Honestly.....I thought it showed alot of maturity to stick it out and work on their marriage rather than running back and getting it annulled like most ppl would. The writing was superb.....the supporting characters were loveable and funny. I will definitely read more from this author. Definitely a 4.5 star read.
Definitely looking forward to see what this new author brings me next, I couldn't put this book down.
This was just a really nice story about two people who meet by chance, end up working together, all the time fighting their attraction for each other.
Two brothers who happen to be the hottest commodity in single rockstars. And two sisters who are on the ride of their lives when they spend four months on tour with a rock band.
There was lots of sexual tension, a bit of drama, a some seriously hot rockers.
It was well written, the characters were great, and it kept my attention from beginning to end.
This is a stand alone novel, no cliff hanger, and a very nice epilogue to wrap up the story.
The storyline is very well written, there's a mix of rock n roll, hope, love, drama, and some unexpected twists. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
Maybe the author should consider expanding this to a series instead of just this single. I'd pre-order it today.
I'm definitely going to check out other books by this author. If they're half as good as this one, they'll be great reading.
