Written by an Italian socialite in the '70s who was raised in boarding schools and had her parents bless a nose job at age 17, I think describing Luciana as eccentric is an understatement. But it's her eccentricities that make this book a completely honest, unique gem. So much better than the "French don't do anything and look beautiful; if you try hard enough you can be just like them" books out there. French women are LIARS. They spend fortunes going to the Institutes de Beaute every month, and if they don't they end up looking just as dowdy as the rest of us. They just know how to pull off effortless chic (which actually takes quite a lot of subdued effort). Italian women may be into the in-your-face glamour that can come off as looking ridiculous at times, but at least they're honest about the work it takes to get there. You can read all about how hard that work is in this book.

In your description, you neglected to say that this book did not come with it's jacket. What a disappointment, and not inexpensive.
