Loved it! "I am a fan of Susan Griscom's work and so I was really looking forward to reading this. It didn't disappoint. The plot moved forward quickly, and I ended up reading the book in just 2 days. I loved Jackson. He was such a tender hearted hero, but he was also fiercely protective. Lena was a great heroine. I felt for her and was drawn into her character. The story was well written and engaging. I definitely recommend it!" - Amber Garza

From the Author

Beautifully Wounded, originally titled, The Fawn, was inspired by a long time day dream I'd had as a child and continued into young adult hood. I'd always had this fantasy of being saved by my prince. Jackson is that prince. The original name came about because of the fawn Jackson nurtured when he was a kid. But then, I thought people might think the book was about a cute little deer, so it became Beautifully Wounded, which worked out well for the next two books.

You can find the second and third books here on Amazon, both are in the Kindle Unlimited program. All three books can be read as stand-alones, but if you are going to read all three, and want to get to know each of the brothers individually, I'd suggest starting with Jackson and Lena in Beautifully Wounded.

All three of these stories deal with real life situations and social issues. I've tried my best to keep it as real as possible, of course, it is fiction, and I do like to have a happily ever after at the end of all my stories. Just a warning, the sex scenes get steamier with each book. Sorry, I just couldn't help it.

It takes a strong individual to bounce back from some of the horrors of real life, and I believe I've portrayed that in these stories. Never give up hope, because I truly believe you are what you make of yourself and we are all in control of our own situations. Be brave, be strong, and don't ever let someone tell you that you can't do something that you have a passion for.

It is my favorite book by Susan Griscom so far and that is saying a lot. I love her work and Beautifully Wounded surpassed my expectations.

Lena is a woman who has found herself in a very abusive marriage. An intense scene in the first chapter painted a very clear portrait of a relationship gone dangerous. Susan's descriptions brought the story to life for me. I felt as if I was in the house with Lena and my heart raced with each second she had to endure her husband Troy's wrath. I applauded when she finally gained the courage to run. From that point on I was emotionally vested in Lena's journey.

Jackson is a man who feels the need to help the helpless. He loves nature and has helped many injured animals recover, releasing them back into the wild. He feels the same desire when a battered Lena walks through the doors of his pub. He can't seem to control his need to protect and help this injured woman. I fell for Jackson immediately. His gentle and loving nature, his guitar playing and all around sexy nature pulled me in.

Beautifully Wounded is a story filled with hope. After living through dark times, Lena begins to experience the beauty life and love has to offer. I couldn't put this book down. Susan opened my heart and mind in this beautifully descripted story. I am eagerly awaiting the second book in this series! A truly beautiful story that I think everyone should read.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It saddens me very much, to know, what one person can do to someone they supposedly love. This is a story about one woman's escape from abuse, and her journey in learning to trust again. I an looking forward to readind the next book in this series. This book is complete, no cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written (like all of Susan Griscom's books). This powerful story of a girl who has to get away from an abusive, alcoholic husband. When on the run after being physically abused she meets Jackson...a night in Shining armor.....and has to face her husband finding her. I won't give away the story but I will say the Lena had to make some very hard choices. The world really needs more Jackson's in it. (And my husband would fit that role....so I guess that makes me really lucky!)

This was my first Susan Griscom book but if def won't be my last!!

Lena Harington has had enough!! She knows if she stays with her abusive husband Troy any longer he will kill her just like her stepfather killed her mother. When Troy comes home one night and starts abusing her yet again the only way to get away is to stab him in the stomach with a knife. Not knowing if she killed him or not she knows she has to run and leave it all behind.

Jackson Beaumont has the need to protect the injured whether it is human or animal. When Lena stumbles in his bar there is just something about her he knows he can't resist. He knows it could bring danger to his door but he doesn't care, he will do everything to help his fawn.

Lena knows she needs to go before Troy finds her but there is something about Jackson. The longer they are together, the more she opens up to him and soon finds herself in a comfortable and happy place in her life but what will happen when an old friend of hers shows up at the bar to warn her about Troy? Will she be able to get away before it is to late? I loved Jackson!! He was so sweet, patient and understanding with Lena.

I can't forget to mention Jackson's brother Brodie. He is such a man whore!! When Lena's friend comes to visit, will she be able to change his ways? I can't wait for his book to come out and I hope we get more on Lena and Jackson in it!!

Susan Griscom’ s newest book, “The Fawn”, (Book 1 in her new series, The Beaumont Brothers), eloquently scaled the staircase of human emotions; despair, fear, flight/fight, re-birth, and ultimately the blossoming of a young woman, Lena Harrington, who becomes someone she likes, and experiences not only the ability to give true love, but also to accept true love. The latter is not an easy thing to accomplish after being the victim of brutal domestic abuse. “The Fawn” opens up with Lena’s abusive marriage to her husband, Troy, and his most vicious attack that leads to her flight from him occurring faster than she’d planned. So, with nothing but a raincoat, a little savings and a new ID, Lena takes off and randomly stops in Turtle Lake and into Jackson Beaumont’s life. Jackson owns the pub and grille that Lena walks into looking for a cup of coffee and maybe a lead on some work. But she’s battered, exhausted, and scared to death-all recognized by Jackson. He recognizes she’s physically and emotionally hurt, in trouble and needs help, but more importantly, he recognizes the fact she’s extremely scared and one wrong move from him will send her bolting out of the door, and out of his life.
“The Fawn” takes a true look at domestic violence, how easily it can creep into someone’s life and how quickly it can control it. In college I was required to be trained as a court advocate for victims of domestic violence, and I applaud Griscom for how accurately she formulated the path taken by the abuser to isolate and control the spouse. Even more so, I was thrilled that not once did I read the words “why didn’t you leave him” or “how could you let someone do that to you” or “why didn’t you take up for yourself” or “I would never have let someone treat me like that.
