There are several good iris books on the market, but this one is unique. Most books have the mandatory mug shots of the flower. The Beauty of Irises is graced with creative photography, which really does bring out the beauty of irises. There are groups of irises, and there are bees-eye views of the intricate and gorgeous inner structure of the iris blossom. Plus an informative text. This book easily earns five stars for creative and striking visual effect. --RC Richards, La Mesa CA
About the Author
Katharina Notarianni began her gardening interests several years ago in San Francisco, growing amaryllis bulbs and orchids. When she and her husband moved to San Diego county, she discovered she could garden year-round in her own backyard. Her interests expanded to include roses and irises. When her irises thrived in the dry heat and colder winters that are typical of the San Diego mountains, that hooked her. She now has over 200 iris cultivars in a rainbow of color growing in her garden. Katharina was inspired to capture the fleeting beauty of her irises and so published her photographs along with gardening advice in this book: The Beauty of Irises.
