In Beauty in Spring, Cora and Gideon grow up together, from childhood companions to young love they are suddenly separated by their families. A decade later, Cora goes back to the one place she’s longed for, and the only man who’s ever had her heart. But what she finds is not the well-kept mansion she left, nor is Gideon the sweet, alpha-in-the-making boy that was left behind.
There’s a reason for everything that’s happened, including why the necklace that Gideon gave her on their last day together with a promise of forever, has now turned into the chain keeping her prisoner. Gideon not only has the answers to all of her questions but also holds the power of setting Cora free. Now that she’s come home, he has one month to win her back or everything will be lost.
I loved both Cora and Gideon. She was sweet and knew that Gideon was the owner of her heart, I was a bit annoyed at her stubbornness to resist Gideon, but she had balls and I respect that. Gideon was a beast *wink*wink*. He was alpha and bossy, but so completely in love with Cora that I couldn’t help but love him in spite of all his furryness and raw-meat tendencies.
With some suspense, magic, soul-mates and some steamy scenes, I really enjoyed reading Beauty in Spring. The epilogue was truly the perfect ending to this perfect little paranormal romance.
I liked this twist on Beauty & the Beast a lot better than the one Alexa Riley wrote.
However, there were a couple things I didn't like about the story.
First, with the way the author was writing, I couldn't figure out the time setting for this story.
I was also a bit out of my comfort zone with the werewolf sex with a human. Although it's not full on sex, he's still basically mounting her while in his shifted form.
I started with Beauty in Winter (#4) because one I just saw that Alexa Riley release a new book and I got it and two I didn't know that it was a series until I was finished and saw that other authors had (Beauty #1,2,3)....
All 4 book are amazing.. I will say my favorite was the one written by Alexa Riley, but honestly all 4 book are great... after I finished reading one I jumped to amazon and bought the next one..
Must read them...you will not be disappointed!
Cora Walker has come back home to Blackwood Manor after leaving with her father ten years ago. Coming back, she longs to see her childhood companion and first love Gideon Blake. But instead of seeing Blackwood Manor or Gideon as she remembered them, she finds Gideon as a beast, cursed, and she now magically chained by her necklace that Gideon gave her years ago to Blackwood Manor. Gideon can free her from the chain that keeps her captive and let her walk away, or she can break the curse keeps him
and the beast at odds. Which will she choose?
I liked this retelling, though it did take a while to warm up to the characters who seemed distant with each other though they had a past and history, especially from Cora's point of view.
Overall, Beauty in Spring by Kati Wilde was a good novella and I would recommend.
