In the beginning of the book your looking at a woman to me that is being emotionally abused, taken for granted in the worst possible way. Husband is a complete jackass, no kidding. He refuses to see how he is behaving. The emotional rollercoaster ride he has her on is enough for me to scream. Is the wife perfect absolutely not, but she is down on herself. Which in turn makes her actions not excusable but understanding because her insecurities. Now let's jump to when she ups and leaves going to her parents house to stay. Her mom was someone I could never ever get along with. Who tells their child to suck it up buttercup. Your husband needs you, go home make it better, which is pretty much what her mom tells her. I did like how Shay stood up to her mother-in-law. Wish she said a lot more to her own mother. Shays daddy was awesome. He supported his daughter without getting in the middle. Now he did make excuses for his wife but hey we all have some faults. Now that Shay is out of the house Bran is somehow husband material, he does things around the house, taking care and spending more time with his daughter. Cause in the beginning of the book it made it look like he spent most of his evenings with his friends ignoring his wife's phone calls, cause she didn't get along with his friends. Hell he let his friends think she was nuts for behaving the way she did. This man had a lot of growing up to do, and I don't want to paint him as complete bad guy. He was good provider, and a good father. Just a s***ty husband. They do have a happily ever after in this book but I am confused as to if I am happy about that or not.

Because (Seven Year Itch #4) by Jennifer Foor
3 stars!!

“How does a couple start over when too much negativity has transpired between them?”

This was one of those books that I desperately wanted to love but could only “like” and it wasn’t through want of trying on my part. Normally I try and throw myself into the characters’ lives and immerse myself, imagine myself in their shoes and living their life but no matter how hard I tried, if I was Shayla, I would have left Brandon years ago. How they got to their seven-year itch is beyond me. A bit harsh??? Certainly not, read this book, let the anger bubble and fester and then you will say that Brandon was a complete a-hole too. He sort of redeems himself towards the end, but for the majority of this book I wanted to strangle him, slap him about a bit and just in general, inflict injury. The dialogue that came out of Brandon’s mouth was unbelievable and only made me intensely dislike him all the more…but anger is a great emotion to evoke from me because it doesn’t happen very often, so Jennifer Foor, I salute you…you royally peed me off and that is no mean feat!!

“I’m sleeping with the love of my life; my enemy, the only person in the world who will destroy me, and I can’t hold back. I want to eff her until there’s nothing left to fight about. We need to let it go. It’s the way it has to be. Nothing good will come from this, but I continue, because I know a part of me will never be able to stop.”

Shayla and Brandon were together through college and an unplanned pregnancy meant that they were married young and basically thrust into “adulting.” Shayla had taken all this in her stride, she loved Brandon with all her heart and was totally consumed by everything Brandon.

Review for Ramblings From This Chick.

Because is the fourth standalone story in Jennifer Foor's Seven Year Itch series. I have really enjoyed this series and I think part of what I love is that these books feel so genuine. These are couples struggling with life after they got their HEAs, and I love that Jennifer Foor has given us a look at what real life is like after marriage. Things aren't always rainbows and sunshine and relationships take a lot of work. I love seeing how she shows each of these couples hitting these low points in their relationships and then working to come back from that.

Shayla Vincent has been married to her high school sweetheart for seven years. They got pregnant at a young age and got married to try to make things right and raise their daughter together. Though they do love each other, things have never been perfect in their relationship. Brandon isn't the man she needs him to be, and Brandon is tired of feeling like all Shayla does is nag. Shayla knows that something has to give, but will her leaving and asking for a separation be what mends their relationship or breaks it?

I really felt for Shayla here. She had some insecurities about her body that Brandon didn't help at all, and she was doubting his fidelity after she found out that he had been talking to women online. Brandon constantly went out with his friends leaving both her and their daughter at home. For someone who said that his daughter was his top priority, he definitely didn't seem to hold up to that. I understood exactly why Shayla was so frustrated, and honestly she had every right to be.
