I also like the fact that Allie is strong without being TSTL ("too stupid to live.") Too often an author will endanger the heroine because she makes such stupid choices she kind of brings it on herself. Not so with Allie. Jay has told her he wants her safe, but she's seen nothing to suggest that she's actually in danger and, as a strong woman, she's fighting for her independence and integrity. I like that she's not a push over nor a bitch.
This is the first book I've read by Nikita Slater. I heard about her on a thread on the Amazon Romance discussion forum. It certainly won't be the last one I read, though! My only complaint was that it was too short. I would have liked to have seen how she, as the woman of a very rich man with lots of body guards, was able to have some semblance of a normal life. What's it like to go shopping with so many body guards in tow? What sort of daily life they settle into when she's not struggling for independence? The book was a great read, though, despite it being too short. :)
