Practical tips abound, as Odimegwu offers tips like shedding the PJs and dressing for business to help your family understand that you mean business; creating a workspace of your own, even if it's a desk in the corner of the family room; and evaluating your own passions to discover their potential to produce income.
As the author points out, isolation can be a big problem for Work at Home Moms. Along with the networking suggestions she presents, the companion website [...] is a great resource.
As a Work at Home Mom with an already established business as a writing coach, I discovered some welcome reminders in the book, as well as new suggestions for making my career more fruitful. Reading it was definitely energizing!
As a Dad who works at home part time, I read this book because I believe I could learn a thing or two, and I did. Pamela has been there and done it. Pamela's to do list comes in handy to make sure all bases are covered. What a WAHM can do gives you ideas. Good one Pam.
All in all, I found the book to be a solid resource.
The author offered a surprise that requires that you contact her to receive. It was really cool!
Time management is another consideration. I have to say, there are some great tips that I had not even considered to make your entire day work out perfectly. The author discusses the good, the bad and the ugly about being a WAHM, which most authors simply gloss over or ignore completely. She particularly delves into the negatives many fail to consider. The book is a thorough guide to aid work at home moms make the decision to transition to Mompreneurs.
What was most important for me was that the author offers an opportunity to join a community of Moms, and with the information that she provides in her book, I knew that I would find a safe haven.
As an example, some suggestions are given for what to do from home. One of those examples is "franchising". Not a specific franchise field that works well from home, just "franchising" in general. Then she lists the benefits of franchising - such as free training. (It's not free, it's covered in the franchise fee.) She fails to mention any disadvantages (like paying a percentage of your earnings to the franchise for as long as your remain in business and not being allowed to vary from the prescribed way of doing things.)
This book isn't going to help you be successful. It's not even going to help you decide whether working from is something that will work for you. It is, however, well written and easy to read.
