Daws' amazing writing brings the characters alive in Becoming Us. I felt like I was a part of the story, like I really knew the characters. Such brilliant writing makes this is a book I will read again and again!!

Amy Daws has a way of playing your heart string and tearing you up. She pulls out every emotion from you and doesn't stop until she says the end. ~RK from Dayreader Reviews
Becoming Us allowed me to become a voyeur in the development of the relationship between Brody and Finley and introduced more characters that I love and want to know so much more about!

From the Author

I'm super excited to be releasing a PreQuel to Brody & Finley's story! When I first wrote A Broken Us, I eluded to how Brody & Finley met in college...and even some drama that went on there. I had an idea in my head about what their backstory was, but that was it. When A Broken Us released, I couldn't stop thinking about Brody & Finley in college...it consumed me! So I thought....what if? What if I write a PREQUEL! If Star Wars can do it, surely I can!
So that's what Becoming Us is. It's a part of my London Lover Series even though it's not set in London. But it's where it all began...it's where we first meet Finley, Brody, Jake, Leslie, Angela, and Mark. All these great characters that will hopefully be unforgettable for you.
Becoming Us and A Broken Us can be read in any order. By release date or by chronological order. Take your pick....and hopefully you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

I think the storyline worked, I don't really think the "Jake situation" was really ever completely worked out or I guess I came out feeling more confused than I was before he had his final chat with her. I didn't really like Jake, Finley or even Brody. I tried and I did read the book until the end. The characters just struck me as more "high school" than college. Finley, I thought was ridiculous in her behavior. Brody totally overreacted to the point of being scary. And there was barely any dialogue between Finley and Jake. Finley was frankly, a complete mess or at least that's the impression I got from how the author wrote how she acted.

I know I'm in the minority on this and hesitate writing a review that can't be at least four stars but I see real potential for the author. But after reading tons of "college" aged books, this is NOT how they act or talk. I won't be continuing my journey because I have a feeling Finley is going to be more immature than ever in the next book.

And the words cool and us were used way too much and the whole we don't need to be married to be committed. And Please marriage is NOT just a piece of paper or that certainly isn't the way I feel about mine. Young kids today too many times are pushed to thinking that the only thing that separates couples that are dating and ones that are married is the legality of it all and that's sad. Marriage is a commitment, one you can't easily leave, one you build on and create a life with someone you can see yourself with in this life and the one after.

I really wanted to like this book but it fell flat for me. There were so many children moments that made me scratch my head. For a couple that were supposed to be in college, I felt like I was reading a high school romance. I get insecurities and trust issues, but let's grow up and TALK about our issues. The ending really made me angry. Had it ended before the last chapter I would have been ok with the ending. However, for some reason the author feels that we need cliffhanger thrown in on what could have been a stand alone novel. I will not be reading the rest of the books in this series.

I really, really wanted to like this book, but was extremely disappointed by the ending. Why do authors think that a cliffhanger will hook a reader into another book? Maybe if I like the characters, I will read another book, but I never use it as a motivator for an additional purchase. Maybe if the characters had some redeeming qualities... None that I could think of.

Becoming Us was one of the books I was most looking forward to this year and I was for sure not disappointed. Myself personally I read the Second book(first published) in the London Lovers series but you can read either of these books first but I would recommend to read Becoming Us first. It set to be a prequel and would add a lot to the story if you would read it first.

Okay so I am still completely fangirling over this book. I read it over a week ago and I still can’t stop thinking about it. I was honestly expecting the story to be more cutesy romance and I am so glad I was wrong. What I got was so much more and I am so happy to see Brody and Fin again.

So I really liked Fin in A Broken Us but I hadn’t necessarily seen the strong outspoken girl the characters kept on saying she was in that book but I give the girl credit after finding out about what she did. (sorry not spoiling that :P) So I was always curious what the characters meant and in this book we get to see that especially when she meets Brody and their relationship grows. The scene with Jake was perfect and I loved it. She really grew as a character as well especially from the crush with Jake to her time with Brody.

Brody!!!! I love Brody! I loved seeing the two of these characters interacting and having their romance time since we didn’t really get to see to much of that in the next book in the series. Something is just so attractive about a character that is just so up front about his feelings from the start! Anyways I didn’t think I could love him anymore than I did but was proven wrong and I am so glad for that. Honestly he’ll probably be on the top of my book boyfriends list for a really long time!

4 Platypires for Becoming Us by Amy Daws

I've been hearing about Amy Daws from a few of my friends. They've been recommending her books to me and have told me I would like it.I just did not know this was a prequel to "A Broken Us" but I don't feel like I was missing anything major. At least I hope not.
After the first couple of chapters with mentions of Marian Keyes and not liking to drink beer I knew that Finely would be a character that I might like. Even though I thought she came across a tad too party girl and really "cool" for my taste I thought she was still a relatable character. Especially once she showed her vulnerable side with Brody. I adored the drama and their romance. Really once Brody entered the scene the story picked up and I can't wait to read the next book.
Overall, I really did enjoy this book and would recommend this to fans of New Adult Romance.
