Editorial Reviews
Review
I was going through the most difficult season of life when I found this book in 2015. I felt completely disconnected to other Christian books that I was reading they were either too sugar coated, or lacked the spiritual depth that I was hoping for. But, Donna Partow's teaching style, biblical insight and practical applications on everything from faith, family, health, home, finance etc. makes this so much more than your average devotional. It's truly a day by day journey to a richer spiritual life in mind, body and soul. I highly recommend it. - Amazon 5-Star Review
The best devotion ever; none other lights a candle to this women's devotional - Amazon 5-star review
BY FAR the VERY BEST Proverbs 31 study we've ever done!! - Amazon 5-star review
From the Author
I'm so honored that you are prayerfully considering investing 90 days to explore what it means to be a Proverbs 31 woman today. To be honest, I had always considered it an unattainable goal. Like many women, I was tempted to think the passage was impossible to apply to my life.
Then I met a widow in Colombia (South America) while serving on the mission field. In the midst of a nation torn apart by decades of civil war and violence, she lived her life with such beauty and excellence that it took my breath away. Her life inspired me and began to open my eyes to the possibilities. Her final words to me were, "Donna, you must tell women everywhere: what God has done for me, he can do for them also."
I returned home and immediately set to work on that project. Telling women everywhere that, no matter the obstacles, you can become the woman God wants you to be.
The result of my journey was this book, Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be: A 90-Day Guide to Living the Proverbs 31 Life.
In many ways, it defies categories. It's unlike most other books on the topic. And that has led to some confusion among readers. In particular, those who were expecting "just" a devotional were surprised by how much practical, down-to-earth advice I've included.
Yes, in once sense it is a devotional - each day includes a scripture to memorize, a passage to read, a scripture-based prayer and space for prayer journaling, and a brief teaching on the day's reading. But it's much more than that. My primary goal was to create a super-practical approach to making this ancient passage 100% relevant to women today.
Another key to keep in mind is that I've intended this--not simply as a book to read and discuss--but as a handbook covering every conceivable issue and topic presented in Proverbs 31. I do not expect -- nor did I intend -- that any woman will immediately implement every idea contained on the nearly 400 pages of the book. My goal was to create a resource that you can return to over and over again, for many years to come, as you enter new seasons in your life and are ready to move closer to God's ideal in any given area.
I've also created a companion video eclass called The 90-Day Jumpstart which you can learn more about through my online training ministry, Womens Empowerment University. You can find more info about all the courses I offer under the Training tab on my website.
I've been profoundly touched by the tens of thousands of women around the world who have found help and hope on the pages of Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be. I pray that God will continue to lead each of us forward to become more and more like Jesus, more and more reflective of His original design for our lives.
Many blessings,
Donna Partow

I have now led this as a study 4 or 5 times since for other women. I’m so appreciative to Donna for her obedience to Christ for giving us this gift in words clearly God-breathed.
I think this is a very good starting book for Bible based development and improvement. God wants us to be all we can for Him (not for ourselves), and this book certainly opens to the mind possible improvements that are necessary if we would become all we ought to be as women pursuing God and being pursued by God.
I recommend this book.
I have read it twice, years apart, both in church small group settings. I really like the personal challenges, the guidance to look at my life as a whole and see where I am honoring God and where I need to put in some more work. It can be both eye-opening and overwhelming, especially for new believers. It was a great discussion starter for the ladies in our group.
This is not a manual of Christian living that is a must-do check list for everyone, but in general, it helps us to evaluate how are we doing individually in the areas of prioritizing our quiet time with God, keeping our homes and family organized, less chaotic, and clutter free. Are we being good stewards of our time, talents, and resources?
The thing to remember is that the Proverbs 31 woman didn't do all of these things at the same time. There are seasons in life, and when you're raising small children, maintaining ideal weight, running a business and hosting get-togethers may not work for you all at that time.
Let's be real, no one is expected to be perfect, and while the author's approach may be too much for some people to take in, I believe she comes from a place of desiring to help others become the woman God wants us to be. I would say if you are on the fence about this study, read the book, evaluate yourself, and implement a few things that move you in the right direction.

However, the actual content which Donna Partow has written on each topic isn't grounded in the word of God. A lot of her suggestions for how to be a godly woman are clearly based on her own earthly beliefs and personal hang-ups rather than referring to the bible for guidance.
I found this book whilst looking for material for women's ministry, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone. However it has taught me one thing and that is that discernment is incredibly important when reading Christian literature. And my advice to all Christian women is that when reading a new book to ask yourself "is this grounded in the word of God; have they clearly derived this from the scriptures?"
