What happens when crazy ex-girlfriends and clingy one night stands open up Sam's eyes to what has always been right in front of him all along? Namely, bestfriend Maggie. When a weekend away causes him to notice how unplatonic his feelings have become and to consequently make his move.. can their friendship survive it or is this the beginning to a lasting forever?
Gahhh! I FLOVED this book!! I loved Sam's heartfelt and steadfast feelings and the way he loved Maggie. It was endearing to see how scared they both were about messing up their relationship. This was such a sweet and sassy addition to the series. Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
Ryan takes on a well-established, solid friendship in this tender and sweet story. The transition from friends to lovers isn’t always an easy one, but it does make for a fantastic starting point. Once Sam and Maggie got out of their heads and followed their hearts, the shift in their relationship was an obvious and natural progression. The chemistry between the two of them sizzled, and the sexual tension as they made the leap from friends to lovers served to ramp up the heat of that moment.
With a couple that I was rooting for from page one, this light-hearted, fun tale was a romantic and passionate portrayal of friendship set on fire. I smiled from cover-to-cover, and this swoony, sweet story left my romance-reading heart happy and full. Kendall Ryan’s The Bed Mate gets 4.5 smooches from me!
This was a sweet and fun read about two best friends finding their way to each other. I loved Sam and Maggie!!! I loved how much he loved her but how respectful he was of her current relationship. I loved that they had such an amazing friendship and never crossed the lines while they were with other people.
I just wish we had spent a little less time building up to them being together and more time on them actually being with each other. I feel like after more than half the book working towards them finally being together, we should have had more of them.
Sam was such a sweet guy though that I can even hate too much though. The way he’s 100% there for her when she needs him and the way he knows exactly what she likes just made me all kinds of swoony for him.
(This is not me saying the book should have been longer... I actually loved that it was short and sweet and that it hooked you from beginning to end, I just wish they had spent more of it actually being together).
The novella felt shallow and abruptly short. It really shortchanged the potential of this friends to lovers story. I wouldn't recommend this novella.
It was a really sweet and quick read. Sam and Maggie had been best friends since college. Maggie was in a relationship so Sam settled for friendship. Now eight years later, Maggie’s relationship had gone south. The characters were awesome with substance and humor. Ryan then took us through the mindset of each on whether they should transition from friends to lovers.
It’s recommended for those looking for a well written quick read, no angst, simplicity, a cute storyline and an HEA.
This is a good read though.
