😧 I really wanted to love this book. Through the beginning I wanted it to be David. Even after I saw her falling for Marcus, i still wanted it to be David. At some point I accepted and had fallen a little inlove with Marcus. He was ALWAYS there for her and he never turned his back on her. So when David came back in the picture, after completely disappearing, I didn't have enough time to accept him. I guess. Idk. I just felt cheated. It was a really good book. I'm just having a hard time accepting the turns of events that happened to get her where she should have been all along. I guess I feel like Journey was right in a way... Her selfish ways paved the outcome of Marcus's fate. 😞
I only write reviews for books I love or hate. I read a lot of books in the middle. This is one of those books where you remember the characters months later because you were so touched by them. I was not given this book or paid for my review. I'm just a book lover that loved this story.
I first read this book as installments on Wattpad. And maybe I’d actually read it again cover-to-cover after it was finished there. I’m not sure. But, unlike the first time—when I was around Journey’s age at the beginning of the book—I now truly enjoy it for the beautifully remarkable story it is. After a month and a half of a reading hiatus, TBSM was the first book I picked up. I needed advice, a pick-me-up, and a little kick in the ass, and in many ways it delivered all three.
Even though Journey and I ran in completely different circles in high school, I could connect emotionally with her during her young adult years. Her frustrations and fears were palpable, and I could relate to her struggling relationships and anxiety over her uncertain future. But, there was also hope and light throughout the novel. Journey helped me realize that friends are invaluable, love will find a way, and that loss isn’t the end of everything.
Perhaps I’m a little biased in rating this because my emotional connection to Journey or my friendship with the author, but I truly believe this story deserves the stars that I give.

There are many ups and downs to this book, and the first one in a while to actually make me cry! Would strongly recommend.
