I bought this Key Finder to find my key. This means, I wanted to hit a button on my phone and the Key Finder should make a noise. The Key finder does a great job with that.
So why only 2 stars?
Well, this is pretty much the only thing that the Key Finder does.
You can also use it to make sure your key is always in the range of the key finder/phone. And this is the problem. It always loses the connection. Sometimes the connection is lost, when the PagerTag is in my left and my phone in my right pocket. Imagine you are in a meeting and the Key Finder starts making noise just because the connection is lost.
Moreover, it seems like the App always crashes and reloads when I open it after doing something else (e.g. facebook). This would explain why it loses the connection and why the button on the key finder can't be used in 90%. I programmed it in a way that the phone says the time when I hit the button. This works when I just opened the app and lock my phone. But when the app is open in the background, I do something else and lock the phone again, it won't work.
I don't know if it is because of iOS 8.3, maybe they'll release a update for the app.
Concerning Beets BLU support, I opened a ticket on their website and tried to contact them regarding a hardware problem of my second Beets BLU. For some reason, it always says "Your account is blocked" when I try to login and check if they've answered it (I noticed that you guys check the amazon reviews from time to tome, maybe you can fix that?).
You can buy multiple key fobs. This is great for bigger families. Everyone can have the Pager tag. These are not that expensive. It will definitely save you time in the morning on the way out the door if you have set your keys down somewhere while getting ready!
ALL comments and opinions are my own. I was not persuaded by receiving this item for free.
I thought I'd need something to help me organize, maybe keep track of important things in my life. I do have to say that it is quite useful. I kept it on my water bottle for a bit, careful to not allow any water to get on it. But that's when my son decided to stop stealing it from me. Instead, I attached it to my little clutch, which carries my wallet and such. Basically, the heart of my purse is in my wallet. Very important NOT to lose it. And in all the hustle and bustle going on over here, 4 kids in tow everywhere I go, sometimes I need the sanity check: Did I put my clutch in my back pack? Or did I leave it in the office? Or put it in the library bag? Or leave it in the truck?
These are real life questions that go running through my mind as I'm gathering everyone else's things to get ready to leave the house. So having the pager tag on my clutch was probably the best idea. You could also place the tag on your keys, a camera bag (which I would probably do) anything of importance that you move around every day and might lose track of. Since I am a stay-at-home mom, AND a homebody, the only things I could think to attach it to were my Nalgene water bottle and my clutch.
A little about the app, because you need it for this to even work. It's pretty straight forward. You customize everything in the app. If you buy several tags, you can take pictures of the item the tag is attached to, to keep track in the app. When you page the item, you do it from the app and you can shut it off from the app. The beeping is not obnoxious either. Just 8 high-note beeps, not too loud. It sounds like a little alarm, like on a watch. Though you can change the sounds too. I just liked this one best.
One feature that I was confused about was the music. You can have the app play whatever downloaded music you have on your phone. But I didn't understand how to turn that feature off. My music kept playing! I eventually had to shut down my phone and restart.
There weren't any directions, save for what was on the box. Essentially, you need to download and play around with the app. There is a little "i" inside a circle at the top of the home page, and if you click on that it will take you to the information page. I'll mention that the battery power started off at the halfway point when I put it into the pager. The battery status shows on the app. I don't leave the pager on, because of this. I mainly turn it on when I need to find my clutch. This defeats the purpose of having an alarm when your item is out of range (another cool feature) because the app won't be able to detect it when it's turned off.
Some other features on the app:
*You can silence all alarms
*Turn off scanning
*Turn off the pager
*Read about other information on the app and pager
If you are constantly on the go, moving things from bag to purse to desk and back, this is a useful little gadget. I use it as a sanity check, just to make sure I have the item with me. But if you're in a space where there might be clutter, or people moving your things around (i.e. kids), or you are constantly misplacing keys, this would be useful for you.
Originally, we had it on my husband's keys since we got it since he is always misplacing them. but after a couple mornings of forgetting my phone at home, we switched it to my set since the fob will alert me when the phone is too far away!
I love that this little compact thing can be connected to anything! My son kept taking my husband's work lanyard and it would disappear so we bought a second to add to the lanyard to keep track of it as well!
For the price point, it worked so much better than I expected. When we head back to school, I want to purchase more to put on all my son's day care stuff so I can be sure my husband brings it all, and remembers to bring it all home!
I got this neat little device for my step-daughter. She looses her keys, phone or handbag several times a day. I set it up on my phone first and it was really easy. I like that there are a few different sounds to choose from but only when the finder is looking for your phone. It doesn't have the variety of sounds when looking for the tracker itself. But I guess that would make it bigger and more expensive.
My step-daughter reports that she likes the wireless key finder and her daughter makes a game of hiding and then finding my step-daughters keys. Entertainment for everyone.
