The book is written by an Occupational Therapist that specializes in children under age two--so I trust that all the activities really are useful. On every page, she has:
1. A large picture example of a baby engaged in the activity
2. Background info on why the activity is in the book
3. Detailed directions on how to complete the activity
4. A list of benefits (such as spinal development, neck strength, visual sense, body awareness, the list goes on and on).
This book has really been such a good resource for me--I've used it every day and also leave it with whoever is watching our daughter when I'm gone so they have some ideas of what they can do with her as well. It's super easy to read and to follow. Pretty much all the supplies you'd need for any of the activities you most likely have at home.
Highly highly recommend!
