Quality has improved compared to previous versions; there’s now glossy paper. However, this version has significantly inaccurate illustrations of the characters. The precious edition (2006 or sometime in the early 2000’s) shows Adam and Eve with “color.” This version lightens up the characters skin, which is completely wrong, inaccurate and propaganda.
Most of the characters also have blonde hair. For example, Moses. Ummm...it’s highly unlike that Moses had blonde hair, especially considering Leviticus 13:30. Come on Zondervan, get it together.
I plan on keeping the book because I’m going to simply color in the characters. Yeah it’s going to take a while but I’d rather show my children more accurate illustrations.
If you are a Hebrew, I’d suggest getting a fleshtone marker or brown coloring pencils and color the characters in. There aren’t many books that accurately illustrate the Hebrews but in terms of the content, this is a nice book hence I’m keeping it but won’t read it to my children until I’m done coloring “unclean” characters in.
