There was little to like in this kit. The directions were hard to read because of the font size and were very confusing. The materials were a poor quality especially the crochet hook and the eyes which had no back to ensure they they could not be removed. I definitely cannot recommend this kit to anyone, especially a beginner.

I wouldn’t say this is for a beginner. All the beginner tutorials I’ve seen since purchasing this (and becoming frustrated) say a size 5/H hook is best for learning. The ones in this kit are half that size, 2.5. The yarn is also absolute garbage. Maybe if I was more skilled I could make it work, but never having crocheted before, yarn that didn’t come apart before even being used would be helpful. I’m not sure what it is about it, but it’s like fuzzy and loose rather than the defined strands in even dollar store yarn.

The description of this product says it is for beginner to me a beginner means somebody that has little to no knowledge of how to crochet. I bought this for my 10-year-old daughter, who wanted to learn how to crochet I expected pictures and instructions on how to do each thing step-by-step on making this. That is not the case! I do not recommend this product for anyone that doesn’t have at least basic knowledge on how to crochet. Wish I had read the reviews before I bought.

These were a super fun intro into crocheting animals! I had never done it before and the videos they have available made it quick to learn. I started with the Dino and it took me two tries, but the second time came out well!

One thing to note is that there are no backers to keep the “safety eyes” in place. I’ve since learned that they should have another piece that secures them from the back and that they should be added before you finish crocheting and stuffing.
