I'm not going to delve into the entire layout of the book. Let me just sum up by saying: if you are a business in need of a press release (or just someone who might be curious about them), this book is a great place to start.
What I liked most about this book was that the pieces of a well written press release isn't merely outlined. Kennedy explains why these variables are important and what their roles are within the press release. This made it so much easier for me to really grasp the concept and I finally figured out what I've been doing wrong.
I highly recommend this book because press releases are gaining increasing importance, especially with our entrance into the Digital Age. There are a lot of them floating around online and you want to make sure that yours stands out from the rest and fulfills the purpose you want it to.
A bonus was the history of press releases, as in this day and age --- social media is king and press releases have really evolved through the times. Being able to effectively utilize social media is crucial to reaching a mass audience with your press releases and this book gives you the information you need to accomplish this.
This book is pretty much your one stop shop for a variety of questions you might have related to press releases including the history, information on the different distributors, writing engaging headlines, search engine optimization, AP style writing, and much more. I really wish I would have read the book years ago.
The author really did a great job on this guide and I would highly recommend it to anyone regardless of your experience.
