The Beginning of Fearlessness: Quantum Prodigal Son
By Lee and Steven Hager
Though authors Lee and Steven Hager have titled their book "The Beginning of Fearlessness," they are quick to point out they have not written "a self-help program that uses a system or formula" to assist the reader in overcoming specific fears. Instead, they insist that we must "dig deeper," "eliminating the causes of fear at the most elementary level." This means changing our understanding of the universe itself, and also our place in it. In this unique and original book, the Hagers have compiled a well-researched volume comparing the parable of Jesus' prodigal son with quantum physics.
Lee and Steven Hager also tell their quite interesting personal story of the fallout due to questioning their church, and the devastating illnesses they each have had to overcome, quite miraculously in many ways.
I don't know where else the reader will find a book where the authors delineate how the laws of classical physics have shaped their lives, and then how quantum physics shaped them again. You will find a wealth of information on forerunners such as Karl Pribram, David Bohm, Michael Talbot and Dean Radin, broken down in easily understood sections on this journey to understanding fear at its root level. They take us through the "false" mind and the "true" mind in the journey of the prodigal son, against a background of the Gnostic Gospels, among others. We go from "The Bhagavad Gita" to Rumi, and ultimately to opening the heart to experience Source.
This is a tremendously satisfying book on many levels, but also a challenging one for those of us who truly desire to expand our consciousness and let go of the fear of being who we truly are. Lee and Steven Hager have done a marvelous job in bringing the material together in order for the reader to understand what may seem like complex and diverse subject matter. And yet, they make it all fit somehow, and we are the wiser for it.
