Also, this book is call Building Business Solutions. I realize it says "Beginning" but I thought the book would contain more information about building actual business solutions using Dashboards and the Business Intelligence features that play a major role in SharePoint.
Would I buy it again? No. It doesn't provide what I'm looking for since I need a current product and not an old product. But if you are just looking to learn more about what SharePoint is it is an excellent tool.
You missed the mark on this one Wrox.
The book is detailed enough for most professional office users and is clearly targeted at recent versions of Sharepoiint as in current use in Enterprise and large office installations across the world.
Unlike another book that I purchased with well over 1000 pages, I found that I could casually read this book and try the examples without getting lost in loads of verbose text. The writing style is fresh and friendly - an easy read.
I would have liked it to be accompanied by a pdf version of the book as well, as this would serve as a good companion when away from the office desk or bookshelf.
Overall, contains just what it proports to. Appropriately Priced. Recommended read.
For SP 2013, I borrowed/reviewed multiple books - hoping that I wouldn't again waste my money. After my review, I purchased this book. Perhaps not perfect, but this seems to be the best available. This will remain on my desk as a good reference and will be the book that I hesitate to loan to others.
