Review

"Started reading this book and was into it right away. The characters were real and interesting. And you just knew something was going to happen you just did not know when..You fall in love with the romance between Mason and Angel and want for it to continue to escalate. And you are happy for their friends and their good times. Was not ready for the ending, but since there is going to be another book in this series, I am waiting for the story to continue. I highly recommend this book as a clean romance and beautiful love story." ~ By Cathy L. Stotts

"Sweet read! I loved this first book of Brenda Kennedy's. The love story was so sweet and spoke to me in such a way that I totally identified with the characters. I can't wait for book 2. Keep up the good work, Brenda! This is a tough business, but you have a gift. Love you!" ~ By Author CM Hutton

"I couldn't put this book down! A new Beginning", was one of those rare books where you get to experience the lives of the main characters through their eyes. You become intimate with their fears and strengths as they lead you along their paths of rediscovery. Brenda Kennedy's book is captivating, sensitive, tender and exciting. I can't wait to read her next book in the "Starting Over Trilogy, "Saving Angel"." ~By Author DB Jones "Diane B Jones

A New Beginning is a debut novel for Brenda Kennedy. The story snagged my attention right from the beginning and didn't let go. The story does deal with abuse and may not be for everyone.

After running from an abusive relationship Angel relocates to sunny Florida where by a twist of fate, she literally runs into Mason. After their chance meeting, Mason is intrigued and wants to know more about the dark haired beauty. As fate steps in again and the pair reunite on a blind date the next day, the chemistry really begins to shine.

Angel is a bit shy and tries to hold back at first because of her former relationship. But Mason does everything he can to soften her up and break down her barriers. He shows her the utmost kindness and respect, and is there for her every step of the way.

Is the past ever really left behind? As the story reaches its climax, the past starts to catch up to Angel. Will Mason be able to help her overcome what haunts her? Will she be able to let him in enough to reveal her past to him? What happens when the past invades the present?

This is book 1 of a three part series and does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, as I said it grabbed my attention from the beginning and at the end left me wanting more. I can't wait to dive into book 2 and get more Mason and Angel.

I support Indie authors, so hate to post a bad review. There were several things wrong with this book. First, I hate cliffhangers. I don't mind a trilogy, as long as each book can stand alone. This one cannot. You have to purchase two more before getting the HEA. I will not be doing that. The book was poorly written, when POV'S were changed, entire conversations were repeated. The writing style was pedantic, the characters poorly developed, and many scenes were too descriptive. This author could benefit from a good editor. Good luck to her, but I am not going to take the bait and purchase the remaining two.

Very abrupt ending...cliffhanger. I don't appreciate that! I didn't enjoy the authors writing style enough to justify purchasing the next book.

I totally enjoyed this read, the author keeps you guessing and at times on the edge of your seats. I so fell in love with the characters and can’t wait to read to see how their lives go. I always like to give a recap of what the book is about. This one covers so many areas from abuse to starting over, along with everything in between. When one is scared from an abusive partner it is hard to take that first step to open up and trust a new person, too walk away and start over. The fear is ungodly until you have walked a mile in their shoes you have not a clue. When your heart comes into the picture it is even harder. Who do you turn to, who can you trust with your secret? Everyone who has been in an abusive relationship knows Ms. Kennedy hit the nail on the head with how Angel felt and how she deals with her issues. I found her book to not only be very believable but a very touching story that goes right to your soul.

Angel has lost so much from a very young age, her mother at 12. You might as well have said she lost her father the same day. He had trouble moving on with the death of Angel’s mother and turned to drinking. The only one she had to turn to where her one aunt and along with an aunt and uncle. Just when life is starting to turn out great, Angel found love and is starting over. Everything is going well until she moves in with her boyfriend, and then he changes over night into an abusive man. She lives this way for years, almost dying. There is no way out, he will find her and kill her, he has the law behind him he is a policeman who tells her knows how to kill her and hide the body where no one will look. Everyone knows he is the loving man who takes care of her she has hide the abuse so well no one will guess he killed her.

As many not too confident authors do, the author finished the book, not the story. It is a ploy to get the reader to buy the next book. I won't. While the story was interesting enough, there was a lot of descriptive verbage & self talk that was boring. It made me think it was a book by a very immature author.

It's a shame that the story has no ending. I would have bought another of this author's book but now I won't. I'm tired of authors who jerks readers around by not finishing a book. Making the first book free does not make up for it. Too bad because because this author had promise.

Such a sweet romance!
Angel is trying to make a new life for herself after a very bad relationship with her crazy ex-boyfriend Jim. After a horrible experience with him, she leaves and moves in to her aunt's house in Florida that she left for her. After what she endured, she has trouble opening up to a new relationship, even after meeting Mason and they hit it off right from the start. Mason is protective of her and tries to treat her with all the warmth and kindness she never experienced before. After she is involved in yet another devastating accident her family, new friends, and Mason are right with her to help bring her through.
The is a good first book and definitely ends on a cliffhanger.
