This is a well written story giving the reader a small look at what life is like for a law enforcement officer and the job they try to do in every large city and small across this country. Law enforcement is a thankless job but God bless the men and women who put their lives on the line every day. Well written and a definite page Turner.

I couldn't put the book down. It was like reading a movie. the thought of just one of these events taking place was wild but to know that they all happened to just one cop is incredible. it is even more amazing that he makes it out alive to tell his story. i gave the book to my father in law (a retired nypd officer) and he read it in one sitting because he couldn't put it down either.

Excellent book, the author takes you straight into the action during the "war years" of the NYPD. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to anyone in law enforcement, active or retired.

A great book, and nice easy read. After reading this book, you will have good understanding of the New York Police Department in it's earlier years.

Stunning book about real life.. as real as it gets. The courage of Liutenant Pranzo is indescribably admirable and makes one very humble even to describe their book. Once you start, you cant put the book down. Great writing with a detailed memory- makes you feel like you have witnessed his trials and his work. Thanks to him and many others, NYC is the greatest city in the world, and undeniably the safest now. What an honor to come across this book and to know that people like him exist-whom live life for the sake of others, without caring about themselves. Highly recommended book for any law enforcement person, not even... for everyone!

Lt. Pranzo's two decade journey through the NYPD makes for a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed his insights, humor, and sincerity most of all. This book is the story of a hard working cop who wanted the best for his officers and the public. Highly recommended.
