I've tried several lacquers on my brass mailbox over the years, each time resulting in runs and dull areas. This lacquer works well - the mailbox looks new again. Very pleased!

After spending several hours polishing a very tarnished brass music stand, I wasn't ready to ever have to polish it again some other day in the future. So I bought this stuff. Its easy to spray it on too thick and get runs, which aren't too major of a problem, but spraying several light coats prevents the drip and run issue while making your object look a little better.

This stuff works very good on every type of bare CLEAN metal and not brass only. One can goes a long ways and you probably wont use it up just doing two or three objects unless they are huge.

I made the mistake of spraying a small object in the house and the fumes are SO BAD I greatly regretted that mistake. Hours later I had to open the windows because the noxious fumes weren't fading as expected and I couldn't stand it any longer and was getting a real headache. After that everything else that needed to be sprayed, went outdoors to my shed for spraying. The stickiness goes away in less than 30 minutes, but for those 30 minutes you want to protect it from floating debris in the air, leaves, dust, lint etc, as it will get caught and captured in the drying lacquer coat.

But this stuff is great if you use it right and give it the respect it needs.

I BOUGHT THIS TO RESTORE THE FINISH ON A ANTIQUE 100 YEAR OLD GRANDFATHERS CLOCK. THE WEIGHTS AND PENDELUM WERE TARNISHED. AFTER POLISHING I SPRAYED THEM . SO FAR THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL. OTHER FINISHES I USED WOULD GET DULL. GREAT PRODUCT.

I have old brass lighting fixtures as well as brass hinges, door knobs, etc. I wanted a lacquer that really protected the finish. Another spray brass "protector" I tried darkened the finish, which is completely the reverse of what I wanted. Right? You take a light fixture down, disassemble it, polish it, and put it back together. After all that, you want it to look bright and beautiful. Well, after spraying this product, all my brass looks fabulous!

It is easy to apply. (Note: I sprayed outdoors because you don't want to breathe the fumes.) I applied 4 thin layers of spray with about 5 minutes between the coats. I had no drips, and the items seem very well protected. It worked so well that I'm looking around to see what other brass I can polish and then protect.

Now we can enjoy our brass without dreading the tedious chore of reshining it regularly. Yippee!

I love this thing. Applies directly to work, and since it is designed for brass, it has a few compounds that the can advertises as preventing tarnishing, presumably for down the road if water becomes trapped between from wear-and-tear.

One interesting thing: if you spray on oil-based paint, the paint will liquify due to the solvents and rise to the surface. I sprayed this on some chemically aged brass I had applied oil-based paint for a resist to test it, and the paint that I could not remove beforehand melted off. It's also notable that if you are spraying something that is chemically aged, you MUST use thin coats, otherwise the concentration of solvents will diminish the aging ever so slightly.

Used on large brass counter trim about 6" x 60 feet. Cleaned and polished and cleaned again to be safe, the polished again. Then applied several coats exactly per directions. Been a month still no tarnish and much easier to clean. I give it 3 stars because the brass lost its brilliant shine, after applying this stuff the brass was immediately dull and still has a flat look to it. Still beats polishing and cleaning but I probably wouldn't use again.

Worked well, although expect some of the original brightness to be toned down. I did like that fresh extra brightness of newly polished brass, but it doesn't last long, without polishing over and over every few weeks. This is the best alternative. I do like the idea this lacquer was formulated with brass in mind. Hopefully, it is durable and only time will tell that.
