This stuff works very good on every type of bare CLEAN metal and not brass only. One can goes a long ways and you probably wont use it up just doing two or three objects unless they are huge.
I made the mistake of spraying a small object in the house and the fumes are SO BAD I greatly regretted that mistake. Hours later I had to open the windows because the noxious fumes weren't fading as expected and I couldn't stand it any longer and was getting a real headache. After that everything else that needed to be sprayed, went outdoors to my shed for spraying. The stickiness goes away in less than 30 minutes, but for those 30 minutes you want to protect it from floating debris in the air, leaves, dust, lint etc, as it will get caught and captured in the drying lacquer coat.
But this stuff is great if you use it right and give it the respect it needs.
only time will tell but it has been a month and no tarnish yet on a heavy door handle and lock
It is easy to apply. (Note: I sprayed outdoors because you don't want to breathe the fumes.) I applied 4 thin layers of spray with about 5 minutes between the coats. I had no drips, and the items seem very well protected. It worked so well that I'm looking around to see what other brass I can polish and then protect.
Now we can enjoy our brass without dreading the tedious chore of reshining it regularly. Yippee!
One interesting thing: if you spray on oil-based paint, the paint will liquify due to the solvents and rise to the surface. I sprayed this on some chemically aged brass I had applied oil-based paint for a resist to test it, and the paint that I could not remove beforehand melted off. It's also notable that if you are spraying something that is chemically aged, you MUST use thin coats, otherwise the concentration of solvents will diminish the aging ever so slightly.
