This is a very unique comedy special. Never seen anything like it. Comedians are asked to be 100% honest, relying on true stories and it becomes a kind of cathartic comedy event. I really enjoyed the pilot and looking forward to the future episodes.

The UnCabaret shows are really great because they show a different side of many comedians -- you get to see behind-the-scenes of how comedians develop material and how they transform parts of their actual lives into comedy. The performances have an unpolished realness to them that is really fun. Beth is a great host of the show and she speaks to and draws out the performers onstage, mid-performance, so that they ad-lib (or seem to) some really funny stuff. There are some short but good clips of Beth talking to the performers backstage before they perform that add another layer to the performances. UnCabaret is a different kind of comedy show and is a breath of fresh air after all the packaged and slick comedy that's out there. I recommend it to people who like Mark Maron's WTF podcast or who are interested in comedy that's "raw and uncooked" but still tasty.

Uncabaret is a raw look at stand-up. But not raw in the sense of shock, vulgarity, or aggressive. Raw in the sense that the pieces are fresh, introspective first drafts. Almost every comic in this season was uniquely funny and unquestionably entertaining. I really enjoyed the minimalism of the set, set-up and production, which focuses on the performer and their story.

If you love comedy but can't get to a comedy club, this is a great way to enjoy well known comics try out their material in an intimate setting. Uncabaret is a well known venue in LA with a strong following. You can feel like you are in the "in crowd" with a click of the mouse!

Beth Lapides manages to coax the most honest comedy out of some of the funniest people around. It's a shame that we east coast people can't enjoy this live. Beth, come to Boston (or Providence).

Some of the best comedians who are telling honest stories! My favorite kind of comedy. Beth Lapides' show is a great time, and I'm so excited I get to watch it streaming on amazon now.

I was a huge fan of UnCabaret back in the early '90s and was so happy that they are back! I've been to many live shows (in the past and recently) but these videos are extra special because they show behind-the-scenes footage that gives you an insider view of what's going on with the performers. I can't wait to watch the rest of the shows, and hope more become available. And I strongly suggest anyone in LA come to the shows to see them live; every time something amazing and unexpected happens.

I haven't been able to get to the live shows in a while (every Sunday at First and Hope in Downtown Los Angeles), but these episodes are the next best thing. That's a pleasant surprise -- I couldn't imagine how they'd be able to capture the energy of an Uncab show, but there it is, delivered conveniently to my screen. More, please! Quality original content like this is why I'm renewing my Amazon Prime membership.
