It isn't necessarily simple to make a story simmer with heat while also dripping with honey. While this story might not exactly make it to either extreme, it does manage to approach them. The biggest issue I have with the writing is the way Mel reacts after finding out about the full details of Vanessa's past. It either seems too extreme or like something she would have needed a therapist to deal with instead of the way she eventually did deal with the problem. But, for the most part, I found the characters well written and their relationship well done.
When Mel has to deliver the bar's top shelf whiskey to the shrouded table in the corner, she has no idea where her night or her life is going to go. But she finds out soon enough. Right when she meets the smoky Vanessa. The mysterious owner of The Lounge. The most exclusive, and expensive club in the city. You have to be worth millions just to get into The VIP room. And that is where all the trouble starts. One dropped tray, and one rescue later, and it is Vanessa taking Mel her office. Once Mel sees that red riding crop hanging from the king size bed, shenanigans ensue from there. Vanessa helps Mel explore her submissive side. And love comes from both of them. This is a book for fans of the BDSM scene as well as the members of the LBGT community.
