Desiccators are an economical and reliable way to assure dry, dust-free, and if necessary, air-free storage of humidity sensitive products, such as valuable reagents or electronics.
Depending upon what you are storing, optimal conditions can be achieved using standard desiccants in a manual or automated format, with gas purge or by keeping the contents under vacuum.
When choosing a desiccator the following questions should be considered:

What do you need to know to choose the right desiccator?
Q. What size(s) are the items you need to store and in what quantity?
A. Interior volume of the desiccator and shelving should be considered.
Q. How important are ease and economy of use?
A. Each method of desiccation has advantages and trade-offs. Each user must determine the method that best serves their purposes. Using standard desiccants and regenerating them as needed is economical, but requires monitoring. There may also be more variability in your environment. An automated desiccator requires much less monitoring but uses electric power. Gas ported desiccators are quick to achieve relative humidity, but if the unit is accessed frequently, proportionately more gas will be needed to keep the desired low humidity level. Vacuum desiccators remove air and moisture and can be brought back to vacuum rather easily after opening but require a pump.
Once you have determined your most desirable method of desiccation, there are a variety of styles and sizes of desiccators to choose from.

I can't argue with the value provided. It does the job, for not much money.
Within 1 year it will only hold vacuum for appx 15 minutes after pump is shut off. Once valve is turned off my pump stops moving air & Pulls much harder vacuum.. IE this thing leaks like a seive. Do yourself a favor and go with something better.
Others commented that the O ring was a bit too small and would not stay in the groove. It has only popped out once for me, and it goes back in easily. I suspect that it has to be a little small for the groove so that when the cover is under vacuum it has room for expansion.
Some people commented that it would not hold vacuum. Perhaps the nut on their valve is loose or they have leaks elsewhere.
Overall, I am pleased with the unit and have no complaints or concerns.
For those of you who want to add a gauge, order the "Winters PEM Series Steel Dual Scale Economy Pressure Gauge, 30 "HG" right here on amazon. I think the gauge and shipping was $12 or so, Same price as Chinese but made here! Take the gauge down to the hardware store and buy a brass fitting that fits the gauge and converts it to a hose barb. Buy a little bit of thread sealing tape. Then carefully drill a hole in the top center of the vacuum chambers handle, just big enough for the barb. Push the hose barb into the hole, level the gauge, and dab a little epoxy around where the brass fitting touches the vacuum chamber dome. Without a gauge this gets four stars. Add a gauge and give yourself a star!
