Loupe magnifiers are a perfect tool for geologists, collectors, hobbyists, or anyone that needs a little closer view of something. The BelOMO 10x21mm(.85") triplet loupe magnifier has a viewing area of 0.65 inch (17mm), much larger than the Bausch & Lomb Hastings Triplet Magnifier. The 3 elements making up this achromatic triplet provide a bright and clear view. The 10x power magnification provides the best magnification to depth of field ratio and is the most popular power for a hand held magnifier. The housing and cover are machined metal and coated with a matte black finish and assembled using flathead screws. Belorussian Optical and Mechanical Association (BelOMA), makers of sights for guided weaponry, camera lenses, and other optical components manufacturers these loupes.

Recently I had an OEM replacement motor that the schematic was just terribly small. I nor my younger trainee could make out the schematic. I pulled out my trusty magnifying glass (2.5 X) and we both still could not make it out. We wired it up the way it appeared to us. That turned out to be wrong and we ruined that motor. I decided to do something about that situation so it never happens again. I wanted something that I could carry around in my pocket, so that I could reach for it whenever I would need it.
This Loupe was the perfect solution. I ordered it and had it in my pocket when the replace motor, for the replacement motor arrived. I had several people look at the wiring schematic and not one of them could make out the schematic correctly with their naked eyes or the few with magnifying glasses they had. I then pulled out this Loupe and we were all able to make out the schematic correctly. This is now a trusted member of my tools.
I use this loop for inspecting knife edges, rock-hounding, and checking out gemstones at estate sales. It serves all the purposes well. I almost went with the 20X loop but the smaller viewing area worried me. The 10X loop has a larger viewing area and I have 20/20 vision but it is still small.
If you are going to be examining gemstones and jewelery I might go with the 20X loop over this 10X. Now if you are going to be using the loop for for coins, stamps, knives, rocks, etc I feel this 10X is fine and you will appreciate the larger viewing area. Whichever BelOMO loupe you choose should be around a long time... long enough to will it to the grandchildren. Thanks for the time.
My only gripe is that due to the product's design, it's very hard to find a lanyard that will attach to the housing while allowing enough clearance for the lens to rotate fully into the housing. Evidently BelOMA sells one that works, but I haven't had the opportunity to test it.
One item of note: Depending on the seller, the screws may already be treated with a threadlocker. Otherwise, you may need to do it yourself to prevent the screws from backing out. A small price to pay for such a quality piece.
