You see a kindred spirit within Jesse and Kennedy. They both have pain that they keep hidden inside, but they both act out in different ways. Kennedy has been bullied since the 6th grade, and bit by bit she’s lost herself confidence and has isolated herself from the world. Jesse has lost some important people in his life, and now acts out by breaking the law. However he’s pushed things to far, and now has one last chance to get back to were he was before he decided to give up.
In Believing in Brave you get to see two teens helping each other find themselves again, and it’s truly awe inspiring. Jesse helps Kennedy by trying to give her the strength to defend herself when she’s being bullied, and Kennedy tries to show Jesse that you don’t have to depend on yourself it there are others there willing to help you.
This is a sweet story, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for these two. Though the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, you’re left hoping that things work out with these two. I’m rooting for these two that they are able to find that happiness that they so desperately need. I’m most definitely team Kennedy and Jesse!
Sadly Kennedy has suffered at the hands of a mean girl at school , once Jesse became involved his actions may just end their relationship before it really even began. Jesse is there going to school and working on Kennedy's family farm. He has been a trouble maker back in DC and this was a sort of last resort trip for him to behave and stay out of jail. Losing his parents and begin shifted from home to home has turned him into someone he doesn't want to be. Just one day with Kennedy has him accepting his situation and learning to love the simple and easy he is being offered. I adore Kennedy and I really hope she is able to get some justice for the things being done to her , at the same time I am praying she doesn't lose Jesse because of his actions. Jesse is someone I just want to hug and be there for. He needs love and support and right now he was getting that from Kennedy and the family he is staying with. He is making a major choice right now and sadly I do not think it is the right one. I am hoping this slight cliffy goes a different way.....We shall see, soon I hope !! HINT HINT , like REAL SOON PLEASE !!
I just feel in love with this story and the characters. The two are only partly living their lives, but together they are whole. I loved how it was first a friendship between them that developed slowly into something more. The two really only have each other as friends, and what a beautiful friendship it was. Her relationship with her beloved Brave is beautiful and bittersweet; it brings back such special memories in my life. I spent many weekends with my father and taking care of horses. My favorite was Thunder who still brings warmth and sunshine to my heart…best memories of my childhood.
As usual, M.S. Brannon pulls at your heartstrings, and she is oh so good at it. She deals with the serious issues of loss, love, bullying, and cruelty in only the way she can….sensitively and beautifully. As I always say, she continues to grow with each and every book she writes. She is on her way to wonderful and beautiful things. Thanks again, M.S., for a beautifully, thought provoking read.
