Mr. Miller did not do his homework on many items. For example the bit where a plane needs to land on a muddy road in Gallon Jug to pick up an injured worker?? Gallon Jug was owned by Belize Estate Company that owned about 20% of the country and Gallon Jug was also known to have an airstrip. Large enough that one of the Central American airlines would fly in and out with supplies. King Vultures in Belize City after the hurricane? As colorful as these birds are this is not likely since they are a dense forest species that would not ever be found along coastal savannah or mangrove areas like Belize City. Three other species of vulture found in Belize are seen in and around coastal areas and 2 of these would be the correct ones to use. I will not go one with pointing out further errors in detail.
Perhaps I am overly critical since it is usually the details that make reading a work of fiction enjoyable, but here far too many place names are tossed in unrelated cameo appearances and character development has suffered.
Perhaps the last two chapters tied it all together, but alas I could not make it that far in the book and stopped reading with 2 more to go.
Special thanks go to the author, Carlos Ledson Miller, for writing this wonderful book. I read it yesterday (could not put it down). Not only was the story line interesting, but the book was very descriptive so that I could 'see' the story on each page.
