When I take my Fire HDX into the den on the other side of the home, I get all the signals I need or want. The same is true with the Note II and the other wireless devices that are going full speed. Even the printer works well. While this is fine for us, I cannot understand how an other similar device just stops working when there are no moving parts or high heat. That's just my curiosity and it is of little relevance when I can 'consume' about 2 or 3 years of a router's working properly and then just die and replace it with an even better one for just a few dollars more.
Based on my relatively short usage, I highly recommend this router and, for me, I see no reason to spend significantly more. Butr then I am a cheapo.
The only quirk about the unit is that it must be rebooted after every single setting change you make. So, if you want to make 3 setting changes, it takes 3 reboots. Each takes anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds. Not entirely terrible but seems a bit old school.
Again, great performance and well worth the money.
One other thing that would have been nice to have in this device's firmware is the ability to limit access to its setup software to a wired computer so that wireless computers could not access it and make unauthorized changes. Of course you can and should add password protection to help eliminate that problem but passwords can always be broken and I always felt more secure with another manufacturer's software that would not allow you to access its setup software unless you were on a wired computer which was on my network.
After reading a few other reviews I thought I should add that I do not see this showing high speeds with my wireless products, quite the contrary at times. Also the connection between computers on my network seems sluggish at times. Another thing is that I do not see an improvement with overall coverage in my home but the coverage it gives is more reliable when using my wireless computer. If you can live with the difficulty of setup and the other occurrences I mentioned I still stand by the title stating it is functional.
I have had good luck with previous Belkin products wholely expect this unit to provide the same.
Customer support was great...I needed them because most installations don't need two, and if they do, only one should interface with your providers modem or whatever and the other should be configured as an access point only.
