No great mystery here. You have an ADC port on your Mac, and you have a DVI input monitor, then this is what you need. In my case, a PowerMac G5 with ATI Radeon 9600 (oem) video card and an LCD monitor with DVI input. I plugged this adapter into my PowerMac's ADC port and into a DVI monitor cable (that came with my monitor, hoooked it to my LCD monitor, and *poof* instant connection. No fuss, no muss. (Note: I already had another DVI monitor plugged into the DVI connection of my ATI video card, which is why I needed this adapter for a second monitor.)

The Belkin F2E9142 will not adapt the apple studio panel sceen that I own. My screen is terminated in a flying lead with a male ADC connector. This connector plugs into my Apple G4 Cube processor. The Belkin product will not mate with my screen because both components terminate in male connectors. The Belkin product is incorrectly described because it doesn't allow connection of an ADC screen to a DVI based processor. What it will do is allow an Apple cube to be connected with an up-to date DVI screen.
To use an Apple Studio ADC terminated screen one needs an apple adaptor costing $350. The item is costly because the studio screen does not contain a power supply and draws its power from the Cube to operate the screen itself and to power the 2x USB sockets at the rear of the screen. Any one wishing to update the Cube for an Apple Mini would do better to buy an iMac which comes complete with the latest screen technology and the Duo intel core processors with Snow leopard SW

I just bought two 22 Inch widescreen displays for my Dual G5 Mac tower. The video card it came with was a dual head (one DVI and one Apple Display Connector (ADC). This cable allowed me to connected the proprietary Apple port to a standard DVI port and get video out of the ADC to the display. Beautiful results.

I bought this to connect an old monitor to a newer Mac. But this cable is the reverse gender, and is for using a newer DVI monitor with an older Mac. In retrospect looking at it on my desktop, it's pretty clear what it does, but I ordered it on the road based on the description only without reading the reviews, and I should have zoomed in on the small, low-res picture. I am guessing this product is a good one, like most Belkin projects, and hopefully I have a need to plug in an old G3 or something someday. I do suggest the seller changes the name to ADC Male to DVI Female or something.

I have an older style Mac Desktop computer at work and wished to run dual monitors. I had 1 monitor connected through the DVI port and needed the ADC connector to run the 2nd monitor. This was just what the doctor ordered to go from my ADC Port to my DVI monitor. Works great!

Ok, so let me preface that I've always ran 2 displays at work. Real estate, real estate, real estate - that's true enough. I figured that at home, I didn't need 2 monitors. I mean, I'm not a graphic artist so what's the need, right?

Well, that was all good until I unexpectedly received a free monitor. Well, I already had a 25" HD monitor, so I wasn't hungry for real estate, but thought, "hey, why not? I have 2 monitors at work and it's so wicked, why not do it at home too?" Problem with that thought was that my D1.8 G5 has that blasted card that has one DVI and one ADC connector. Talk about sad status.

Anyhow, realised I needed the adapter and this came up. Cheap, good reviews, and functional so I ordered it.

It came in not more than 2 days later (LOVE PRIME). Install was so easy a caveman could . . . you get the gist. The only thing was that the packaging (the case it came in, not the envelope) was REALLY mangled and ugly. But, hey, looks are superficial. Would she work?

SHE LIVES! My my G5 can have a couple more years of productivity and I can still be a cool kid on the block.

This Adapter worked perfectly for me. I used it on a Power Mac G5 Desktop, Dual 2 GHz G5, model #M9032LL/A with ATI Radeon 9600 ProGraphics. I had a Viewsonic VGA monitor already connected to the DVI port through a DVI to VGA adapter. I wanted to add a second display, a Viewsonic LCD display (VA2226w) I used the converter on the computers ADC port to connect a DVI -D dual link digital cable to the monitors DVI input and it worked, no problems.

I had a big problem: I have two Apple Mac Pro computers, but I moved, and the screen on one of the earlier models was simply too heavy to carry. I bought a used screen, but the connections were incompatible. This adapter solved all of my problems, and now I have two identical large and beautiful computer screens
