Top Customer Reviews
The connectors still mate and disengage smoothly like the first day I used it, and I am pretty sure that the beefy strain reliefs on each end are responsible for keeping the conductors inside the thick insulator intact. Indeed, as I inspected this cable before writing this review I marveled at the construction and materials. Both are first rate.
This cable has traveled extensively - it was part of my travel kit when I was a road warrior consultant, and served me well in many US states as well as the Middle East on long and short assignments. Back to the strain reliefs: I would hastily pack and literally ball this cable up and throw it in my laptop case, yet the ends never damaged, which I attribute - in part - to the strain reliefs that kept crimps from breaking or fraying the conductors.
Bottom line - this model is now USB 2.0 compatible and is built to last. In other words, you cannot go wrong.
They have consumers at their mercy and know that people buying a printer or other USB device need that cable today and don't want to wait to order it by mail.
That said, thank God for Amazon.com and Amazon's customer reviews!! I have saved a bundle and avoided a LOT of frustration due to reader's valuable comments on products rather than relying on the more biased commercial reviews.
That said, if the cable I received works, I really don't care who made it. I paid just under $20 for a Belkin "Premium" USB cable at the Mart, which I promptly returned (unopened) after finding this USB cable and others at Amazon for a fraction of the price. Given that this cable will simply be used to hook up my printer, and probably won't be touched after it's plugged in, I don't see how it can go bad (assuming it works to begin with). I've purchased inexpensive computer cables, audio/video cables, extension cords, and power strips in the past and never had one go bad on me.
I'll update this review after I've actually used the cable. If it works, I'll be a very happy camper at this price. BTW, it was received promptly. I ordered it on a Sunday evening, it shipped (USPS) on Monday and was received on Wed.
Update: I've now hooked this cable up to my Brother laser printer and it seems to work fine. So, for $2.47 for a USB cable that works I've got no complaints. Doesn't matter to me that it's not a Belkin cable. But still not happy that I ordered a Belkin product and didn't receive a Belkin product. Seller did (eventually) offer to pay return shipping, but given that the cable seems to work I saw no reason to go through the hassle of returning it.
