I've compared the Belkin 4-port Travel Hub with the #1 rated Belkin 4-port Ultra-Mini plug. The latter is a proven winner as indicated by its continual ranking as Amazon's best-seller as well as my own tests comparing it with hubs that have cost me much more in return for much less. But I've just had an opportunity to compare the Ultra-Mini with the pictured Belkin Travel Hub in red. Results: 1. The two hubs are practically identical in size and weight but not in shape: the Ultra-Mini is square; the Travel Hub is round. 2. They appear to employ the same circuitry, as the Belkin website lists the two hubs at the same price and, in my limited testing, performance of the the two is equally fast and dependable. 3. The Ultra-Light has a bright, reassuring red light that affirms a "live" USB port when it's plugged in; the Travel Hub omits the light (some users may consider this omission a plus). 4. The #1 Ultra-Light keeps creeping up in price (it's now in double digits); the Travel hub, on the other hand, is being offered by Amazon at an all-time low (under five).

But there a catch! Notice that this particular hub employs a right-angle plug at the end of its permanently attached connecting cable. If you have a laptop with a row of horizontal USB ports, the right-angle design will probably block two precious ports. Most desktop machines, on the other hand, have vertical USB ports, making a right-angle connection feasible. The only problem is that the shortness of the cable attached to these small, portable hubs will, when used in conjunction with a desktop machine, cause your USB devices to be suspended in mid-air, hanging off the back of your screen.

It's inexpensive, and it's potentially perfect--for the right buyer. (It's an ideal fit for a Mac Air, which has only a single USB port per side).

Cheap and easy. I am using it on a pc because all available usb ports were in use. I am glad the previous reviewer brought the design of the offset plug end to my attention, but in my particular application it is not a problem.

I like the round format. I used to have a rectangular hub with the ports all in a line and sometimes it was a tight squeeze. This one has lots of space around each port.

Color didn't matter to me, but FYI I'd say it's one shade towards cranberry from fire engine red.

I like the round format, allows plugging in those larger'port blocker' devices with out blocking other ports. It is a non-powered hub with NO LEDs to indiacate anything(a plus IMHO).
This particular hub employs a right-angle plug at the end of its permanently attached connecting cable. If you have a laptop with a row of horizontal USB ports, the right-angle design will probably block two of those ports.
Its more 'cranberry' red then the picture shows.
Works with USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices. I've used it to sync both my iPhone and Android devices(phones/tablet), access various USB drives(thumb & HDD) with no issues.

when reading comments about the hub flipping over or being at an awkward angle, it all depends on your computer's configuration. yes, the cable is short but that's because it wraps around on the edge of the hub (like a yo yo string) and then, when you want to store it, the end that plugs into your computer plugs neatly into one of the 4 hub ports for a compact, nothing dangling, little pod for traveling. i'm using mine with a laptop and the way the cable comes out of the side of the part that plugs into the usb port on my laptop, i couldn't use my first choice (the usb port on the left side of my laptop) because the hdmi port is right there and blocks this belkin from being able to plug in. so, it's all a tradeoff. i now have it plugged into my second choice usb port (right side of the laptop) and am good to go. re the color, on my ASUS display, the color in the pic on amazon is amazingly close to the reality. i was actually hoping for a bit more cranberry...didn't want the primary color red. :-) the real color is one or two shades off of primary red towards cranberry. no prob's at all with shipment from shopcell and they didn't charge any shipping even tho i bought this little guy all by itself. at $4.99 all in, you can't go wrong!

Pro: Super Cheap and Worked well.

Cons: After 4 months it now says unrecognized device when plugged into any computer. Tried on 5 different computers at work and none recognize it. Also the warranty only covers shipping to you, therefore shipping would cost close to just buying a new one at the price I bought it, which was $6. Also the right angle plug can be a problem for some as it is possible to block ports. My laptop has two USB on one side and one USB on the other. Two of the ports work fine with the right angle plug, but the third would block the other USB on the same side. So not really a problem for me as I have two spots to put it without blocking ports.

I use this at work on my laptop at work where I need to connect more than 3 USB devices that my laptop includes. It worked flawlessly until yesterday when suddenly all my USB device connected to the hub disappeared. Tried restarting, removing and trying different plugs and even different computers all now say unrecognized USB device. Plugging device directly into the computer still works fine, so it is the hub and not the computer.

For the price you certainly could buy two or three and have one or two just in case it decides to die on you. If you didn't see the other Belkin Travel Hub look it up, it only comes in grey/black, but has 800+ reviews with an average of 4 stars. When I bought this one the other one was much more expensive, but as of now it is $7, so I would personally go with it unless you can't live without it being red.
