Far Exceeded My Expectations

There is Nothing not to Love about this Belkin Cush Top Notebook Stand. It DOES keep your laptop absolutely Cool. I put it on my bed all the time, to use with my 15.6" Toshiba Satellite and my laptop has never even gotten warm. It actually stays cooler than it does when it's sitting on the cooling fan. It looks attractive, it spot cleans pretty easily (yes, you shouldn't be eating around it-don't do like me) It's made Extremely Well. I purchased mine in 2010 and I'd buy another one, but mine still looks brand new (really) If I do ever need a new one, I will buy another of this brand. I can tell you one thing, if I have my laptop sitting on my bed, it gets hot Fast. With this, it stays Cool and that's all I need to know, because that's what I bought it for and it's far exceeded my expectations.

Keeps your legs from getting hot, but not the laptop

We've all rested our laptops on our laps at one time or another - and likely experienced the uncomfortable sensation of the laptop getting warmer and warmer. To top it off, the laptop isn't exactly well balanced or positioned on your lap, where even the slightest movement makes you lose track of a curser, hit the wrong key, etc. Well, do I have a product for you (does this sound like a really bad infomercial where they show slightly inept people completely blundering simple actions???)...

This cushion, however, does do what it advertises. It brings your laptop off your lap, saving you from unnecessary heat and discomfort. Also, the cushion is slightly tilted, giving the laptop a better vantage to the average person sitting comfortably on their couch, bed, etc. We've used this in my family for about 4yrs now and haven't had any major issues with it.

The only real drawback is that it isn't designed to promote airflow to your laptop. Is it better than your blanket on your bed or thos baggy pants you like to wear around the house - you bet. Is it as ideal as the new mechanical stands that have built-in fans to aid in keeping your laptop cool? No. Is it, however, good enough to do the job of keeping our laptop off your lap and in a comfortable postion, regardless of where you are - with or without external power for extra accessories? Yes, yes it is.

Overall, I'd say if you are just looking for a nice product to raise your laptop off your lap and position it in a comfortable angle while working in bed or on the couch, etc - then this is your product. If, however, you want something that will cool your laptop down and keep that loud fan from going into overdrive - you may want to keep looking.

Works great with my 17" HP Laptop

This item is a simple concept that works very well.

I was looking for something to support my laptop when I was using it in my bedroom. Most of the support items I found were for smaller laptops - 10" to 14". I had bought another support that had a fan in it, it cost a lot more than the Belkin CushTop, and it was too large and uncomfortable to support the computer on my legs.

I did several searches on the internet for a lap support, and none of the items I found seemed to be made for a 17" laptop. The CushTop stated that it could be used for up to a 17" laptop, so I decided to try it and ordered it From Amazon.com. I'm glad I did. If you look at the product picture, it shows a laptop on the CushTop on the smaller side (Side A) with the larger side (Side B) on the person's lap. Once I received the item, the directions clearly show that Side A is for laptops up to 15", and Side B is for laptops up to 17". It works really well. It provides a nice and stable platform, and the laptop does not slide around on it.

The CushTop itself stays cool (I just lifted my laptop off of it to double check), so your legs, or whatever else the CushTop is resting on, stays cool too.

With the opening in the middle, you can store a mouse, and the power cord for the laptop as well. The diagram that comes with the CushTop shows the cord threaded through the opening when in use, I guess to keep from catching on anything when you move the laptop around. I have followed this advice and it works great.

I would highly recommend this item to anyone, and if you have a 17" laptop, you should have no qualms about your laptop fitting - it will.

Works as advertised but not that comfortable

There's not a whole lot to say about a product like this. It is what it is; a laptop stand made out of a hard foam with fabric covering it. I have a Macbook Pro and with my computer at least I haven't noticed any overheating with the CushTop. It feels well-made for what is and I have a feeling that it'll last a long time.

That being said, while it's not UNcomfortable, it's not that comfortable either. It feels less like a cushion or a piece of furniture and more like a piece of wood wrapped in fabric. There's not a whole lot of give. This is because it's made to function for both 15" and 17" laptops (you turn it upside down depending on which one you have) so it won't "sink" in but I wouldn't mind a model that functions with only one size and has a softer bottom. I've also noticed that when I put the CushTop on a flat surface, the laptop stays in place but when I have it on my lap it starts to slide forward unless my hands are on the keyboard and holding it in place. Not the end of the world, but it is a bit annoying.

I considered returning it but since I would only get back half of what I paid (as I used free shipping when buying it) I've decided to keep it for now. All in all, it's not a poor product per se but I would advise a little caution before purchasing it.

Just what I wanted

This is the third lap desk I've tried and this one finally fits the bill. I use it while lying in bed or sitting on the couch. I have a 15" laptop that fits perfectly and it doesn't slide around at all, even when at a sharp angle. The fabric is almost like an upholstery fabric that's wrapped around a hard, cardboard box. My only complaint is that the underside is a little hard and I would've preferred something softer like memory foam or squishy beads. The angle is great and it's very lightweight. I am on my laptop 10-12 hours a day and it never gets hot. It wouldn't be convenient to take places, but it's great to keep around the house. The only thing I've put inside is my Kindle when I'm moving from one room to another, otherwise it is too small a space to hold anything.
