This little splitter is worth having around for those times when you just want to share a movie, songs, whatever. It can work in laptops, netbooks, smartphones ...
The construction is well done and it's just a simple splitter. There is not much more I can say about it except that we were able to hear our movie over airplane noises and I did not notice a great loss in volume or tone.
I liked having it and will continue to keep it for traveling.
Works great. I have my headphones and my speakers both hooked up to the same jack on my computer, so I can always put on the phones and turn off the speaker when I don't want to disturb someone in the house. WAY easier than constantly swapping plugs back there, which is what I did for a couple of years.
NOTE: if you've never used one, be aware that there's a dramatic dip in volume as soon as you plug in a second headphone. This is no issue with this splitter, it's just how audio works. The only way to keep the volume level even is with a headphone amp, which will run you at least $40 for a crappy one. If you can deal with cranking up the volume a bit, you can't go wrong with this cable.
I keep this guy in my travel carry on bag because thats really the only time I use it, but I can see that it would come in handy for others in different ways. I am soo happy with this purchase!
I have a Creative X-FI XtremeGamer soundcard, which is an amazing card if I may add. The only grip I had against my card was it only had one true output, and being a gamer and music lover, I'm constantly switching between headsets and my logitech 2.1 speakers (older model, not available anymore).
While using my headset I'm using both the headphones and the microphone to communicate while playing games, and so simply plugging the headphone jack into the jack on my speakers. My case has a jack for both headphones and microphone which would work perfectly if the pins weren't set for AC97. I considered getting a AC97 to Creative pinset connector, but decided to get the Belkin splitter instead. So that now I have the microphone in the Felxijack and the splitter in the stereo out, which then connects to both my speakers and my headphones at the same time. I just switch off whichever I'm not using (my altec-lansing headset has a off and mute switch for both microphone and headphones) and enjoy crystal clear sound through the other.
I was a bit worried about the splitter possibly damaging the sound or the stereo balance in either jack, but the one I received was in perfect condition and the connections are strong and deliver the same great sound as before but with the added convenience of not having to plug and unplug my speakers and headset every time I switch.
If you are experiencing a situation similar to what I was, I recommend that you pick up a Belkin Headphone Splitter right away, it has made a huge difference in convenience!

This splitter fits great with all my other travel electronics thanks to the small size, and so far has performed flawlessly. And I'm happy to report that I haven't had a pair of headphones break while using this! Highly recommended for someone looking to get a cheap splitter.
