Product Description

Product Description

This USB innovation from Belkin lets you connect up to four peripherals quickly and easily. Our Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub provides four downstream USB ports that offer Plug-and-Play connectivity to your USB 1.1 (low- and full-speed) and USB 2.0 (high-speed) devices. This includes such peripherals as scanners, printers, mass-storage drives, and high-resolution cameras. The Hub is self-powered and allows cascading-so that up to 127 USB devices may be connected to a single port. The Hub is uniquely designed so that the four downstream ports can be positioned toward the back of the desktop for efficient cable management, or to the front of the desktop for easier port access. LEDs allow you to easily monitor master power and individual ports.

From the Manufacturer

The elegant Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub (F5U234v1) lets you connect up to four peripherals through a single open port on your PC or Mac. Ideal for use with USB devices including printers, storage drives, cameras, and scanners, this Hub supports USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 connections, hot-swapping, and cascading setups. In addition, plug-and-play installation makes adding it to your existing system quick and easy.

High-Speed Convenience with Four 480Mbps Ports
The Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub features four downstream USB ports for data transfers at up to 480Mbps. It's built to work seamlessly with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices, which means you can keep older-generation peripherals up and running while maximizing the high-speed performance of new devices.

Compact and elegant, the Hi-Speed Hub offers a stackable, reversible design that allows its four ports to be positioned toward the back of your desktop for efficient cable management, or toward the front of your desktop for quick port access.

Enables Hot Swapping and Cascading for Added Versatility
The Hi-Speed Hub supports "hot swapping" of all your USB devices, which means you can plug-in then unplug peripherals--like printers and storage devices--as you need them. You won't have to worry about rebooting, data loss, or the interruption of other system operations.

Also, the Hi-Speed Hub allows cascading, so you can use it in a multiple-hub setup to connect up to 127 USB devices using a single open port on your computer.

Self-Powered Model with Over-Current Protection
Self-powered, the Hi-Speed Hub can be used to connect up to two high-speed devices without utilizing an additional power supply, minimizing cord tangles and hassles. In addition, convenient LEDs make it easy to monitor individual ports and the Hub's master power status.

The smart design also helps to prevent damage to your expensive computer and USB devices by providing over-current protection.

Plug-and-Play Installation
A plug-and-play setup gets the four-port Hi-Speed Hub up and running quickly and easily. Simply connect it to your computer using a USB cable (sold separately), follow the on-screen directions, and start connecting devices.

System Requirements and Warranty Information
The Hi-Speed Hub works with a broad range of systems. For PC users, it supports Pentium processor-based computers running Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP, or Vista with available USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports. For Mac users, it supports low- (1.5Mbps), full- (12Mbps), and high-speed (480Mbps) modes on PowerMac computers equipped with a USB 2.0 upgrade card and Mac OS 9 to OS 10.

The Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub is backed by a lifetime warranty.

I purchased this product from a retailer, but returned it in favor of a 7-port StarTech hub from Amazon. As some other reviewers have noted (elsewhere on Amazon and on other ratings sites), this hub is unreliable. After a day or two, it dropped its connection to the computer, and I had to unplug the USB connection to get it to be recognized again.

I borrowed a cheap USB 2.0 hub from a friend, and it worked fine, so I realized that the problem was caused by this hub and was not a computer problem. Belkin's only advice was that this hub might work if it wasn't connected to a surge suppressor. The explanation simply didn't jive with the facts, and removing a safety device seemed to be a ludicrous solution, anyway.

They've lost my confidence...I don't recommend this product. There are cheaper, more reliable products out there. (So far, I'm very happy with the StarTech ST7200USB 7-port hub I got from Amazon.)

This hub stinks. It has a plug, but does NOT act like a powered USB hub. Anything plugged into it will get dropped occasionally, particularly SD card readers, iphones etc. It's junk, 50%+ of the time I plug things into it it doesn't recognize them at all. GARBAGE.

Had this for a year or so. It worked well at first.
First one port died (nothing would work in it), then another, then another. At that point it's a lousy extension cord.
I threw it out.

Connected to an iMac G5, using keyboards, mice, iPhone, disk drives, audio/midi interface.

I bought two of these units to hook up webcams to a pair of Raspberry Pi computers for keeping an eye on my elderly Mom who has Alzheimer's. This hub is on the Raspberry Pi compatibility list and the units I bought have performed flawlessly. They've been in continuous operation for over three months. This is a great hub if you need to power a couple of USB devices that may exceed the output capacity of the built-in USB ports on the Pi. If I need 4 port hubs in the future, I'll buy more of these.

In case anyone was wondering this does work perfectly with the Raspberry Pi and is powerful enough to power the Raspberry Pi off of it, so you just need one plug into the wall. It's fantastic and works exactly as described, haven't had an issue with it yet.

One of the fastest USB port hubs I've found. We have it plugged into a cheap laptop that only has 2 USB ports, so when I want to plug in more than a printer and a wired internet, this comes in handy. So far, I've found zero noticeable delays in how fast the computer reacts while using this device. We have additional printers hooked up to it and a power station. I've used other USB hubs that have noticeable delays. Two of them were so bad I took them off and threw them in a drawer, so I was hesitant to buy another one, but apparently upgrading to this model did the trick and got rid of the time delay that I experienced using my mouse and keyboard on the cheaper models.

Got this specifically to power a RAID drive unit for the Raspberry Pi 3. As you might know, the Pi 3 is just like the rest of the earlier devices, to which there is insufficient power to handle more than one 2.5" drive unit. So you MUST have a powered hub for stability. Needed to keep my budget low and this did the trick - no issues whatsoever, plug and play, doesn't get hot, works reliably with RAID drive unit I setup.

The spacing between the ports is perfect for all of my usb cords that are a little funky shaped (gaming mouse, gaming keyboard etc.) The only reasons that I gave it a 4 star rating instead of 4 is due to the shapes of the power cord and connecting USB. The connecting usb cord only goes one way, while the power cord is an L shape and can go wither way. This is my first day with it, so I may have to update this review based on its performance/ longevity.

EDIT: So after having this USB hub for a while I realized that if you do not keep it stationary and accidentally bump it you will screw up any connections made. I will continue to use it as I only connect peripherals and NOT my backupdrive which I have hardwired to my PC.
