Bright lights, ports that die, short power cord
on August 11, 2011
This hub worked well for the first few months. The power cord was short, but just barely able to reach the top of my desk, so that was a non-issue as long as the hub had a weight on top to keep it from falling back off the edge. The backlights seem bright, but you grow used to having them on and light the area with a soft blue glow. It would have been nice to have a switch to toggle the LEDs off, but they're not all too hard to cover if they grow annoying.
However, the biggest issue I have is that half the ports decided to stop working after around 6 months. No data to or from them, on half the board, regardless of whether the hub is plugged in or not. The remaining ports still work fine, but I've ultimately stopped using the hub because of the dead ports and the lights that refuse to turn off. The ports built into my laptop stand suffice without the need for a powered half-broken hub. I certainly would not buy this hub again.
