Regarding this design. It is exactly what I wanted; a small, light and relatively inexpensive (most go for $25 or $30 making this the best value) sleeve to keep my kindle between using to protect it from getting dusty or scratched. As for fit, I am am using the $79 Kindle which is slightly lighter, and more importantly, slightly smaller in every dimension than the Touch - which is 0.3" taller and 0.2" wider. Anyway, mine fits great with a slight amount of wiggle room so I would expect the Touch model to fit a pinch more snugly due to the slight size difference (but I have not tried one). There are a few reviews that comment that it it too small or too tight. I can only say that it would be too small if you tried to fit the Kindle Keyboard model (much longer) or too tight if you did not remove the white insert. If you left the insert, which it ships with inside to hold its shape, then yeah, it will be too tight. Take it out.
One last thing, it seems that Belkin customer service has responded to many of these reviews. They should be commended for actually listening to customer feedback, something you would expect from a good company always trying to make a better product. Highly reommended!!!
Lastly, I also purchased the Verso Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle (Graphite) which is another value. Small, light, inexpensive and provides great coverage without glare problems. Also, highly recommended.
Edited to add: Yesterday, Dec 30, 2011, I dropped my Kindle with sleeve about 4 feet onto the hard pavement of a parking lot - no damage at all. So the sleeve seems to be adequate protection for that type of fall - plus the ultra light weight helps as well since a heavier item may or may not have been damaged
Thank you for writing your review. We are happy to hear that your new sleeve is working out for you and keeping your kindle safe. If you ever have any questions please drop us a line at email@example.com.
I'm not worried about the zippers scratching, there's a quarter of an inch of beveled cushion around the edges, just make sure you have the Kindle all the way in when you close it and you won't have a problem. At first I thought the leather accent made the sleeve look ugly, but I'm use to it now and I found out the leather accent actually provides a really nice grip when holding it.
Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. It's about $10 less that the other Kindle sleeves and does the exact same thing!
The inside is lined with a soft fabric material to prevent scratches. The layers are think enough, with a leather like cover over most of the sleeve, that it easy prevents damage from bumps. I've had this in the back of my backpack for several months now and it's protected my Kindle just fine.
This is a great case to protect against light to medium damage, it's sleek and professional looking. I kind of wish they had made the entire thing out of one material. Either the either like covering, or the cloth, instead of doing a 3/4ths cover in one and and edge in another, but that's probably just my preference. It doesn't affect functionality in the least.
The zipper goes halfway around for easy access.
What I didn't like about the zipper on the K3 model (only openning across one side, harder to insert and remove the K3) has been corrected. They have gone back to the method used on the K2 model (openning along the top and continuing down the side).
The interior is a soft white padding. I would have prefered a gray or some other color that wouldn't show soil as easily, but it is acceptable. I think there is sufficent padding in the the sleeve to protect the K Touch from most drops. It will not be protected from direct blows with a hammer or anything exceptionally heavy landing on it. But this is fine for my purposes. It is not waterproof, but is water resistant.
I prefer to read my Kindles naked ( the K's, not me) so a sleeve, rather than a cover, is perfect for me.
I highly recommend this Belkin sleeve to anyone that wants protection without adding too much weight and likes to read without a cover.
Thank you for writing your review. We are happy to hear that you like your new sleeve and that it fits your kindle reading style perfectly. Please let us know if you ever have any questions or comments for us by writing firstname.lastname@example.org.
- It is very tight on just two corners diagonally across from each other--the upper right and lower left--making it hard to zip closed.
- The "Belkin" logo tag is upside down.
It's still usable, but I am probably going to replace it with a better case made by someone else.
January 19 Edit:
The longer I use this case, the less happy I am with it. There is just no excuse for a big name like Belkin to have produced such a shoddy case, so I have revised my rating down to two stars.
