This transmitter and receiver is perfect for getting your ipod music onto your stereo system without wires or expensive components. The bluetooth signal works well for short range ( the 33 feet seems accurate as outside limit) and in my case transmits clearly through walls to another room. The only reservation is that the transmitter only works with the two pin headsets for ipods. That is, it works with my older Ipod photo but doesnt fit the newer Ipod video.

I received the TuneStage today, from Amazon. Plugged it in both sides (on top of the iPod, and the receiver into an audio pin). Hit PLAY on the iPod and the transmitter automatically connects (pairs) with the receiver. Bada-bing, the iPod is now your remote control. Volume controls, playlist, and all. From unpacking to a remote control in five minutes. It could not have been any easier. Apple should have made this product. And nobody really knows about it.

Sound quality is not 100% I feel, but the unit works well and does great in my bedroom setting. Best results come when the stereo volume is kept relatively low an the iPod is cranked nearly to maximum (best signal to noise).

If you have a iPod Nano, you'll need TuneStage II, which is supposed to hit the street Sept 2006. Rather than releasing a model that fits only the Nano, TuneStage II includes a dongle that will fit any iPods that use the dock connector.

This product is very slick at allowing you to wirelessly send audio through your home stereo. The Sonos system does this very well, but if you already have an iPod and a stereo, TuneStage is a great addition.

I got this for school. I am a music specialist and run my classes and performances off an iPod. The bad news: it does not work with iPod Nano. The good news: I have an older iPod (a white "fat boy") that I had stopped using because, after a couple of years of constant use, the battery was starting to lose its charge in about half the time. I know, I know...you can send the iPod in and get a new battery installed for a small fee...but when you teach with it daily, you don't want to be without it even for a short time. This unit is designed to work with this older iPod and it does just that.

The problem with it not being universal comes from this little "nub" that is on the transmitter. The older iPod has a connection hole for this, the newer ones (including iPad, iPod Touch, and iPod Nano - all of which I personally own) don't have it, rendering the transmitter useless on these models. The other problem is compatibility with other transmitters. I do have a Bluetooth transmitter that I used on my older iPod Touch. I tried using it with the Belkin receiver - it syched, but no go on actually working and transmitting sound.

There is a reason the price is so low on this model, I believe few people own (or still use) that older iPod model. However for the money, it was perfect and I used it for an end-of-school performance. It performed perfectly. I was able to keep the iPod in my pocket and emcee the show without having to run back and forth to turn music on and off. I will use it in my classroom during the upcoming school year as well - I will just need to keep my older iPod charged daily and run it with this Belkin transmitter and receiver.

I have 2 ipod classics one is several years old. This is not compatible with either. The picture very carefully doesn't show the connection on the bottom of the transmitter. The receiver is also incompatible with other bluetooth transmitters, although it states in the manual that it MAY work with some. Spent hours researching only to find that it is completely useless and incompatible. Now I get to return it. The entire construction is very cheap plastic. Disappointed is an understatement.

The original TuneStage is EXCLUSIVELY for iPods that have the four-pin wired remote connector on top, meaning third and fourth generation iPods (including the iPod Photo, the iPod U2 Special Edition, the iPod Special Harry Potter Edition, and the iPod with Color Display), and both generations of iPod Mini. It IS NOT compatible with newer iPods (i.e. iPod Videos, iPod Classics, and iPod Nanos); for those, you need the TuneStage II which connects to the docking slot on the bottom instead of the headphone and remote ports on top.

If you have the right version iPod, this is an absolutely wonderful product which does exactly what it's supposed to do. The TuneStage transmitter is a standard Bluetooth A2DP audio transmitter and the TuneStage receiver is a standard Bluetooth A2DP audio receiver, so they do have substantial (but NOT guaranteed) interoperability with other Bluetooth accessories.
