With the Belkin TuneCast FM Transmitter, you can listen to your iPhone or iPod Touch music on your car stereo and easily find the best FM stations wherever you drive. TuneCast Auto Live combines the Belkin ClearScan Live app for iPod Touch and iPhone with a GPS-assisted station locator to give you the best audio quality and user-feedback-based station choices on your drive. TuneCast Auto Live also works with iPod Nano and Classic and allows you to scan for the best FM frequency without the ClearScan Live app.
Top customer reviews
Regarding volume, I agree with other reviewers who note that it's not very loud. I fixed this by two means. First, I adjusted the volume of my entire itunes library. To do so, click on "songs" and select all (open-apple + A). Right click, and select "get info." On the "Options" tab, slide the bar over to "100%." Now, each song will be louder, no matter where you're playing it from. Super easy!
On my iPod touch, I went to "Settings" and then "music" to get to the equalizer. A number of options listed will be louder than the default.
Bypassing Clear Scan by finding the best stations on my own and adjusting the volume took care of all my initial complaints. I love it now. It's certainly more cumbersome than having an aux jack, but this works well for me in my current car. I drive a 2007 Accord with no visible external antenna, and I have used it all over Wisconsin, Minnesota, northern Illinois, and northern Indiana. It doesn't work in Chicago because there are no open stations there, but it didn't take me long driving away from the city to use it again.
Certainly worth the money.
Feeling pretty pissed since I bought this in time for my long road trip. Came on time as scheduled and even purchased 2 day delivery to have it received on time.
The worst part about this product was the actual box that houses the item. I received it molded, and there was an insect in the corner of the box. Clearly this product had been sitting in the warehouse for a long time. But I will be disputing this purchase with my credit card company immediately. Photos are attached.
Now onto the product itself. Wow, just.....wow!!
I've owned many FM Transmitters for my ipod over the years. But nothing like this. Those actually worked. I pretty much paid for a car charger, and that's about it. The amount of interference caused by such a weak transmission makes this totally unusable. Over half my drive to work, I would get maybe 5 seconds of my ipod music, followed by more than 5 seconds of a mix of a couple other stations. Each radio station completely overpowers the transmitter. I've tried every station that the "Clear Scan" switches to as the..."best" station to use, and it is actually even worse than picking a random station.
The FM Transmitter I owned previously cost me about $10 total. It was poorly made, very thin wiring, and you could just tell it would fall apart in weeks, Being gentle with it, I got a few months from it. But even that was lightyears ahead of the Belkin. It played crisp, clear sound. The only drawback was you had to be delicate because it was put together like shit. Yet another disappointment: My old FM Transmitter had a USB charging port so I could charge my phone while listening to some music. Belkin does not. Paying more, to get FAR less. Utter garbage.
The Belkin actually has a solid build. You can pull on it without worrying you'll yank out a wire. Yet, the Belkin simple can't get the job done.
I cannot possibly recommend this product to anyone.
Pros: -Build fairly well.
-Package arrived faster than expected.
Cons: -Weak signal
-Expensive compared to so many other brands out there.
-DOES NOT WORK,
If you want an ipod charger that makes annoying mixes of 4 radio stations at the same time along with a tremendous amount of static,, maybe try it. Hopefully you won't go mentally insane after hearing such atrocious racket.
