So open the files in the disk and right click and then choose properties to change the compatibility of Setup.exe to Windows Vista SP 2 and then run iit and install. Now what you need to do is then connect the Belkin and also connect an Ethernet cable and update the drivers for it. and you don't use the application that the setup installed, instead go directly to networks and sharing and you will be able to connect to your wireless network and when you do, you can disconnect your Ethernet cable and you will be able to use the Belkin from then on. I hope that helps you. Works pretty good, I am getting 10mbps speeds. :)
Be advised you must install the drivers before plugging in the USB adapter. Also on Win 7 the only driver that works is the one listed as 4xxx with file name f5d7050v4133_setup.exe
Once I ran that setup file from Belkin and then plugged in the adapter it has worked great. The 3xxx driver (for vista) causes blue screen crashes under network load even though it will install.
All and all I am happy with this adapter as it was only $6. I am running it on Win 7 without issue also with VM Workstation 10 loaded and I tested it by downloading a bunch of movies and it has worked good.
Sometimes I can reconnect if I "Troubleshoot problems" but other times, it only works after a reboot. Also, the signal strength is noticeably weaker and I see a lot fewer neighboring routers than other USB adapters.
After a day of frustration, I ended up sending it back.
out-of-the-box compatibility with Kubuntu.
The dongle was immediately recognized by Kubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat).
I had minor issues configuring the Wi-fi for using with
my D-link router configured with WPA2 personal (Hidden SSID). I had never configured a Wi-fi connection in Linux before.
I googled a while and I found an article about how to do the configuration via console (The network manager applet didn't work for me)
The installation in Windows 7 was also easy (plug n play).
Choose the USB port you will use it in carefully, since the installation port is the one it will be used on. It's a little wider than the connector, so if you have two ports next to each other you may need an extender or a short cable.
It was also much less expensive than some of the newer devices.
