I have the helmet to thank for this accident not being a whole lot worse. A neurologist commented that if it weren't for the helmet I might have been killed. This helmet did its job. I don't think there's any higher recommendation that that.
[Original review] I like this helmet. I got the one in "glow-in-the-dark" "titanium." After a few months of riding in the sun, though, the green has completely faded to white. Isn't that strange?
I haven't tested to see if it still glows in the dark... but no matter. It does what I need it to do. Very comfortable helmet. Easy to adjust.
This is a "helmet for the rest of us"... those of us who like to ride but don't want to look like racers. After all, not every ride needs to be a sporting event. Sometimes you only need to go to the store or to work. Or go bike camping. In fact those things describe ALL my riding.
Long live Citi Helmet!!
A bright yellow helmet without a lot of unnecessary graphics is also attractive; there are a couple of retro-reflective swooshes to increase night visibility. The visor is nice for shading your eyes in the early morning and late afternoon and there is a very nice loop in the back to add a flashing read light to the helmet to help increase your visibility to the phone-obsessed driving public.
This is my second Citi. I owned the first for about 5 years until a crash bounced my head off the pavement. I replaced it immediately following the maxim: If you bounce it you bought it. Helmets are only good for one impact. I was about to replace it anyway since the shell color was fading and, as I said, it was five years old.
If you ride, you need a helmet. You NEVER know when you will find your head on the pavement. Whatever you think the quality of your brain to be; if there is someone out there depending on you, you need to protect that brain.
I got this helmet based on some web research and reading Amazon reviews. I wanted something affordable and safe and visible, given that I plan on eventually riding city streets. After looking in some bricks and mortar stores that only had a limited selection of helmets, mostly in black, I turned to trusty Amazon and found this in yellow! I will say that the yellow is way more neon looking than the picture lets on...more of a bright bright lemon than something with gold undertones. This could be a personal perception thing, since I had the impression it would match the yellow of my car.
The fit system worked...I don't have much to compare this helmet to, given that when I rode a bike in my teen years, it was sans helmet, but once I figured out how to put it on, I was able to easily tighten and loosen it. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase!
