I received this as a gift and have used it on top of my electric stove burners to make soups and stews as well as cook and steam vegetables. The size is ideal to cook smaller quantities for a 2-person family such as mine. Although quite heavy, the thickness of the pot provides just the right amount of steady heat transferrence for slow cooking on my electric stove, and it's easy to clean. I do not like the inability to use the cover in the oven, and it is heavy enough that extra caution would need to be used to not drop or set it down too hard on a flat cooking surface. However, as a smaller capacity stovetop pot, it's just right.

I called the mfg customer service line today.

#1 They are rude,
#2 If you need to replace any part of the pot under warranty...the handle, the top, or the pot, they charge you for shipping from California

Who wants to buy a product from a company who charges to replace warranty items? NOT ME.

This Dutch Oven has a nice shape, the enamel is very good, it's hefty and the knob is metal and replaceable. It's a much better product than the available in-store Wally World Tramontina ... especially the enamel. Instructions say it's oven safe to 400 but with the metal knob I wouldn't worry about higher temperatures. I've had no problems using mine in the oven or on the burner. It cooks food just fine. This Dutch Oven is a worthwhile purchase.

Waste of money. The enamel on the inside started chipping after the third time using it. Macy's would not take it back because it was more than 30 days since purchase. Had to throw it away and replace it with a Le Creusete, which I should have bought in the first place.

I just got this exact Dutch oven on clearence at Fred Meyer for $12.49(75% off). Box states it is oven safe to 400degrees. The knob is not plastic.
I can't wait to use it! Looks and feels just like the le creuset I have in a larger size.

I have one that is oven safe, and enjoyed using it. That is until the enamel began chipping off in several places inside the pot. I only use wood/bamboo utensils, so I know this isn't the cause. I used it perhaps twice monthly in the year I've had it. I have other brands in larger sizes and have never had this problem. Very disappointed.

I looked around for reviews to maybe add my positive one and I was shocked by the statements. I'm not sure where in the instructions it supposedly says you can't use the lid in the oven, but I didn't read that when I had them and I did read them as this was my first dutch oven. I've been using it the past four months and already use it more often than my slow cooker.

I've been using the whole thing in the oven just fine for making both rice and chickpeas (from dried), so far, and I just made a another braised pork roast in it tonight at 375° for an hour or more. I read another set of reviews where someone removed the handle and put one on from something else, but mine is un-enameled cast iron like the rest of the pan with the enamel coating and the screw attaching it is metal so how is this now oven usable?

I love this thing so far. It's a perfect size for a 2-3 person family. I'm not a big woman so I can easiliy handle it full or handle it to clean in the sink. So far it cleans up very nicely even with cooking meat and the spattering. The flat bottom works fine on my solid top stove to get it going before going in the oven.

My recommendation? If so many are giving up on it see if they are selling it cheap and go for it!!! I got mine after Christmas on sale for half price at a store. I regret now not getting two at the time, but they were sold out when I went back.

I was heating up some oil in the bottom of this and the ceramic cracked, then popped! I have about an inch of bare cast iron at the bottom now. Now i have to worry about cracked ceramic chips in my food? I guess i'll have to sand blast it. Not cool.
