Good grinder - some prep required.

First I'd like to say that I did NOT receive this product at a discount and this is my unbiased review. The grinder is well built for being all plastic and it does a good job with grinding meat if the meat is prepped properly. I used it to grind both turkey and beef chuck roast. For both meats I had to make sure the pieces were about 1-inch or smaller, any bigger and it did not push through well. On my first try with the turkey I used the smaller grind plate and could only get through a little bit of meat before it started to clog the plate. It was a combination of the holes being too small and the fat on the turkey being too soft. Pretty much a huge fail. So after about an hour in the freezer to get the meat harder but not frozen I tried again with the larger plate. This time it worked well and the grind was similar to the kind you get at the supermarket. I used the same technique with the ground beef (1 inch cubes, larger plate, and semi-frozen meat) and it was equally successful. Clean up after I used it was smooth, I liked that the unit could be taken completely apart to clean, a definite plus.

Some additional notes/comments: The suction on base of the unit is very good if used on the proper surface. I have tile counters which did not work at all because it could not create a good seal. I had to use the unit my stovetop since it is smooth metal. If you have tile counters like me be aware that you'll have to find another place to use it. Secondly, removing the plates from the front of the unit after grinding meat was extremely difficult - it took me a few minutes to get the front loose and after I did I noticed there was a ring of meat that was creating a seal and making it difficult to remove the front ring. It's not a huge issue but just be aware to not over tighten or it will be very hard for the unit to come apart.

For the price, I say it's a very serviceable meat grinder if you use the right technique and prepare the meat beforehand.

Durable, stable, completely pull apart but yet very sturdy meatgrinder!

I was hesitating to get plastic meat grinder. I grew up with the real cost iron manual meatgrinder so when I saw plastic one I thought it will break after first use. But decided to give it a try based on reviews and price. Of course this little guy will not grind bones but for simple, clean meat and veggies it will do just fine. I love that the body of this grinder is see through. Plastic is very durable and I love the fact that I can competely put it apart to wash it.
Other amazing thing is, the base of it is so stable! Once I pull that handle on the grinder it is never moving from its place!! Suction mechanism works amazing.
One of the best purchases on Amazon for me.

I read the reviews and bought it anyway. I thought it was super easy for me with fibromyalgia and it wasn't a struggle for me to use. Easy to clean. I tried to add fat to my pork tenderlion and it was difficult to move through being half frozen like suggested. I just decided not to do that and added olive oil to my super lean pork prior to cooking and afding my other ingredients and it worked fine in adding much needed fat to keep it moist. So the first thing i made was meat balls, adding fresh herbs, red onion, cut up kale and rainbow swiss chard with garlic and sea salt. It was tasty and cheap. The pork was on sale at $2.99 at sprouts. I can't justify buying $16.99 a pound for grass fed beef, i wanted to find ways of utilizing cheaper yet quality cuts of meat on sale. And probably have to buy beef from a farm cheaper and or go hunting for game.
I did think that only 2 sizes of blades were interesting. I think the smallest one is just too small of holes. You can still grind even if you don't use the attachment for holes.I'd you notice the spiral device that is in b the middle of the tube. .The box says you can use it to grind vegetables, but i have no use to do that with this, i have a noodle slicer and thin slicer for that. I'm happy i bought this and it does what i wanted at a reasonable price, i was superuser to find you could pay hundreds of dollars for a meat grinde. I remember my grandmother and mother using a steel or metal grinder and talky cranking that handle. The suction on the bottom of the grinder was great and helps so much! .
I'm a single person so it's just right for one person or two. It actually doesn't take long at all to grind fir a small family but if you're making A LOT of sausage for instance, maybe a bigger machine, if you hunt and have alot of game or want to make sausage with!!
