I belong to you dedicates an entire book to Mark and Chrystal. I can safely say that this was my favorite installment of all. I have loved mark from the very beginning. Chrystal, on the other hand, took me a bit of time to warm up to. I always believed in my heart that Mark loved Rebecca and that she would be found, so when Chrystal came along and captured his attention, I had my doubts.
Mark continues to struggle with his attraction to Chrystal in this installment. She is everything that he thought he never wanted. She is independent, strong willed, sassy and the extreme opposite of a submissive. Chrystal is a great character, I just wasn’t convinced that she could appreciate Mark for the man that he is. However, this book has shown me that she not only appreciates who he is, but that she brings out the best in him, keeps him grounded, and makes him a better man.
“She is freedom. She is passion. She is the safe place where I can be the man I've tried to deny beneath the Master persona, and failed.”
In I belong to you, we get more mystery, drama, and of course more scorching sex scenes! Many aspects of this story as a whole still remain unresolved. Where is Rebecca? Who exactly is to blame? And where the heck is Ella? I will continue to follow this journey in hopes that my vision for the conclusion of this series is what the author has planned for us.
I’ll admit that I did not like Mark Compton at the beginning of the series but there is so much more to this man than we ever realized. I was intrigued by him from the glimpses of the inner man in the novellas but here all I can say is WOW! We finally learn what drove Mark to become the master of control that he’s been. Ten years ago a horrific event changed the course of his life. Now with the loss of Rebecca and the cracks her love made to his armor and a killer on the loose intent on further harm he struggles for the control that has defined him. Yet there is one place that he finds peace, in the arms of a woman who can never be a submissive, a woman that challenges him at all levels; a woman that sees the man inside, a man no one has seen for a decade. It is time for Mark to face the pains of the past and what they led to in the present. It is time for him to heal. “What we deny owns us. You can’t control what you don’t first own and face. You simply delay the moment it owns you.”
Mark and Crystal were drawn to each other because of difficult circumstances but there is more to it than that. They are kindred spirits. There is a deep connection between two souls who have both known horrors in their life, a shared understanding of pain and a desire to ease that pain. I found Crystal to be highly empathic with a deep wisdom born of her own traumas. Her presence in his life at this time and her words lead the Master to epiphany.Read more ›
Being that person, that man is how I define myself, how I allow the rest of the world to define me as well. And now, with a terrible loss shredding me inside out and someone trying to destroy my family to punish me, control is more important than ever. It is everything. It is what I need. It is all I need. Or maybe I just need...her.
"Two birds of the same feather."
Mark and Crystal's story, there journey...Mark needs to face his inner turmoil and personal demons head on and with Crystal by his side will he accomplish it? We finally discover the truth behind what has been tormenting Mark all these years. One devastating tragic event changes his life. He lost Rebecca when he finally began to come to terms with himself that he could feel and love again. He blames himself for Rebecca's death.
The facade he hides behind and the need to be The Master...The person always in control.

I have been anxiously awaiting this part of Mark's story. I have to admit that when I began the series, I was definitely Team Chris all the way. But now that I've gotten to know Mark better through the books and novellas I am definitely torn. It was great to find out better what made Mark tick and get further into the relationship between Mark and Crystal -- I love how they interact with each other.
This should definitely be on your Want to Read shelf!
