Time and money spent on anything but things you actually want to be doing is Bad. Simple right? unless you actually want a speeding ticket, in which case you can go ahead and skip this awesome Beltronics PRO500 Radar detector. But if you're like the rest of us and don't want to spend your hard earned cash on speeding tickets which usually cost over $300 a pop, and you don't want to spend your valuable time in traffic school, then you probably want to Get yourself a Radar detector. These handy little devices pay for themselves after only a couple saves which is what is referred to as a smart investment and we want to be smart with things like money right? you don't have to come up with the Theory of relativity to be a smart person and know that protecting yourself with a Radar/laser detector just makes sense.

To mute the signal just press the mute button on the power cord or detector itself 3 times when you want to lock it out. Once to mute, once more and it will say "Lockout this signal?" and once more to confirm the lockout.
I also tried the Escort Passport 9500iX (same detector on the inside) but it was obnoxiously big and the buttons were pretty cramped compared to the Bel. And the sound alerts sounded almost exactly the same on all 4 bands (K, Ka, X, and Laser). You can find the 9500ix on ebay for 200-300 but I recommend the Bel over the Escort completely. It's much smaller, better looking, and much easier to use.
While I don't have a lot of miles on it yet, I already have noticed that it doesn't beep false alarms like a friend's under-$100 brand-X does.
I have already locked out 1 traffic signal K-band detector that it did trigger on.
I wish I had had it 2 weeks ago when I got a ticket... 8-(
Had this on dash and old Passport C65 this pick up radar 2 minutes before the C 65 unit both were setting same location on dash 10 inches apart.
Nothing like getting message stoplight camera ahead and when get there message you have arrived at destination . The county shut them down but the cameras are still there.
I bought it on Novemberv28th, gave it as a gift on December 25th, stopped working January 16th.
I asked for gift receipt, no go
Tried to contact seller but no response. Says warranty ending January 31st
299.00 down the drain
