The RX65 includes full X, K, SuperWide Ka, and Safety Warning System radar capability, front and rear laser detection, Beltronics' patented Mute and AutoMute, audible and visual band alerts, and all the performance you'd expect from Beltronics. Digital signal processing (DSP) gives you superior long-range ability, along with reduced false alarms. The AutoScan mode can virtually eliminate those false alarms, and provides both Highway and City settings.
The RX65 also features Shadow Technology making it immune to VG-2 radar detector detection, meaning law enforcement can't detect your radar detector, keeping you one step ahead.
Ease of Use
The rugged RX65 gives you control right at your fingertips using the included SmartPlug power cord. Patented Mute and AutoMute technology on the cord allows you to quickly silence alerts. Advanced programming lets you customize several features, and programmable bands let you set the device for your region, including International and North American settings.
Installation is a snap: use the quick release mount to attach it to your vehicle's windshield, and remove it in a snap. Don't want to leave it in your vehicle? No problem, Beltronics includes a travel case to keep it secure while you're on foot.
Ultra-Bright LED Display
Don't miss a visual alert with the RX65's 280-LED display. Exclusive threat display tracks and displays multiple radar signals, including signal strength. Tech Display provides actual numeric radar frequency for any radar signal. You can also view Safety Warning System (SWS) messages about upcoming hazards, construction and more.
Red Light, Blue Light
The RX65 is available in both red and blue LED models, so you can choose the display that most suits you.
How Safety Radar Works
Safety Warning System, or SWS, uses a modified K-band radar signal to alert users of Highway Construction or Maintenance, Highway Hazard Zone Advisories, Weather Related Hazards, Travel Information/Convenience, and Fast/Slow Moving Vehicles. The SWS safety radar system has 64 possible messages (60 currently allocated), all of which can be displayed on your RX65.

FALSE ALARMS: Anyways, after using the product for over a month I've concluded that it actually picks up more false alarms than my previous $70 Cobra ESD777 detector I bought at Walmart about 2 years ago. The detector comes with an Autoscan mode which is supposed to eliminate false alarms but it did not work so well. BUT, this product allows you to turn off certain bands of radar. For example, in my area every single false alarm is either an X or K band. With that being said I turned was able to turn off X and K bands so I would no longer pick up false signals. Now, you might be thinking that it is stupid to turn off X and K bands because how do I know cops aren't using X and K? Well I did my research and concluded that X and K bands are old, out dated technology that is only used by the automatic doors at your local pharmacy and grocery store. Also, after using radar detectors for about 2 years, I've been able to conclude that every cop in my area (South Central Connecticut) doing radar uses the KA band. I recommend trying out your detector first with all bands active and learning your area before turning off bands like I did. Also if you buy this detector make sure your KA band is on USA KA and not International KA since it will be more effective on US roads.
RANGE: The range on this detector is pretty impressive. I sniffed out a cop the other night that was about a mile away doing radar on a popular road to speed on. The best thing was that when I picked up his excess radar, it was impossible for him to see me and impossible for me to see him because of the slight incline of the road giving me an advantage to slow down before I crest the top of the incline where I would have been snagged if I wasn't using the detector. This detector gives you plenty on range to slow down before a cop can nail you; except in the case of a Laser.
LASER: As far as I experienced only our State Troopers (Connecticut) use a laser gun to check speed and not radar(compared to town cops). The detector will pick up a laser if you are hit with one but if you are speeding it is still too late. The only way to beat a laser is with a jammer which is big $$$.
Smart Cord: This detector comes with a smart cord that lets you mute false alarms by pressing the the button on the 12v plug rather than reaching up and pressing the mute button on the detector like other products. That in itself is very nice. Also the power to the detector uses the same connector as a phone jack which is nice because the power cord will never fall out. That was a big problem I had with my Cobra after the OEM cord broke.
Mounting Suggestion: The detector comes with suction cups which I've used before and I hate. In the winter time the suction cups hate sticking to the windshield. I also don't like sticking things to my windshield because it is very obvious that I have an electronic device sticking to my windshield and I don't want it stolen if I'm bad areas. Therefore I suggest getting a rear view mirror mount. Check your mirror first to see if the mount will fit and if you think it will, I HIGHLY recommend it. Plus it is ideal to have your detector mounted higher since it is a 360 view detector so it can pick up radar if its coming from behind. Final Thoughts: I love the product now that I have turned off the false alarms. I totally recommend it if you are in the market for an affordable detector. BUT, if you are going to skip this detector and buy another instead, I suggest finding one with a smart cord and purchasing a rear view mirror mount. With that being said, I hope this review somewhat helped in your decision making process.
This does give you "X-Band" warnings - I suggest that you shut that off. No department that I know of still has those dinosaurs. I used them in 1995, and at that time they were being phased out. "X-Band" is predominately used on those Speed Warning readouts and Traffic Information signs. So you will "POP" "X-Band" constantly.
Between my experience and the RX65 it is peace of mind - I have two RX65's - you would think with the endorsements I give Beltronics they would just "Give" them to me LOL.
The LIDAR (Laser) warning is a nice add - but I don't trust that. I suggest that if you live in a "Two License Plate State" that you purchase a "Jammer" as long as it is legal in your state. In "One-Plate States" leave that front mirrored Georgia Tech or Walt Disney plate off - it's the aiming point for LIDAR, as are the headlights and grille. Jammers actually do work nowadays, but again check your state and local laws. That goes the same for RADAR detectors. Some states its illegal, and some states there are restrictions, especially to CDL operators.
UPDATE: 7/11/2017.... So I have been using this detector for several weeks... I am more and more impressed by it. It's picked up signals around bends and such. Once I figured out how to quiet the initial blasts, it's much more pleasing. All in all I am going to bump up my review to 5 stars from 4. I never hesitate to update my review should new info seem useful.
