Top Customer Reviews
- Both the seat and lid close slowly and silently
- Impossible to slam or drop accidentally
- Super easy to clean (hinges are completely covered in and out)
- Resistant (no chipping, no scratching)
- No discoloration/staining
- The seat (not the lid) stopped whisper-closing after a couple of years of use
(something to do with a piece that popped out close to the hinges and that we noticed too late; it might have paid to hammer it back in right away, so keep an eye open for it)
All things considered, I'm reordering the same model. Worth the price, even if it doesn't last any longer than the last.
On a side note, Home Depot sells this seat for $48.
The first thing for me is comfort. Personally, I like the way the wooden seats feel better, I am not knocking any stars for this because it is a personal preference.
However, I knocked off 2 stars because of the two seats I bought, one of them seems to have an issue with the whisper close function. There is a small plastic piece in one of the hinges that has come loose (and even fallen out entirely once). This piece seems to be what allows the seat (not the lid) to close slowly. And with it loose, the seat will either drop most of the way down before finally slowing, or just fall and hit the toilet bowl. Making this feature pretty much not work. For the price, to have that feature not work makes this seat not worth it to me.
Another thing to note, even on the seat that doesnt have the problem, the seat still drops a bit before slowing, while the lid drops slowly the whole way through.
As for the plastic piece, well I was able to get it back in, sort of. Since it is on the inside of the hinge, there is no real leverage to get it back in, and it is a very tight fit. I was able to hammer it most of the way in, which again was hard because there was not a lot of leverage. It also smashed the piece a bit since this seat is made out of plastic and I wasn't able to get it completely back in. And it is already falling out again.
Though I don't much care about it, both the seat and lid s-l-o-w-l-y close when dropped. The appearance is relatively sleek (I mean, it IS a toilet seat--shrug) because the lid sorta wraps around the seat when closed to look like a single unified piece.
Installation took about five minutes total. After I removed my old toilet seat, all I did was press this new seat into position, finger-tighten the plastic nuts, then tighten the ends. Bemis has a very clever way of avoiding over-tightening and damaging the toilet--the end of the plastic nut sheers off when it is tight. The only tricky part is that you need to verify if your toilet is elongated (18-1/2") or round (16-1/2"). I goofed the first time and got the wrong size.
I'm not a Bemis fanboy, tho. The paint on my last three Bemis painted wood toilet seats wore and chipped off after a few years, looking horrible. I mean, how hard is it to paint a toilet seat so your butt doesn't destroy it--huh?
But this one looks like a winner. I just bought a second Bemis 200SLOWT000 for a small bathroom. If I ever have a problem, I'll update this review immediately.

This is not a magic toilet as I originally thought. It is only a seat. To properly use this product you will need to purchase a toilet also. My poor maid.Published 19 days ago by Old Scratch
Toilet seat is terrible...very flimsy plastic and way overpriced. We've had a seat in this color years ago and it was a very durable wood and held up for many years of use. Read morePublished 19 days ago by Maria Pappa
